An unfiltered brown ale, Lunar is brewed with two-row malted barley and a small amount of dark roasted German malt, giving the beer its characteristic color. The recipe also includes substantial quantities of Midwestern wheat, producing a distinctive natural haze. Fermentation employs a special strain of Belgian yeast, which imparts subtle aromatic notes. The resulting beer has a complex, malty flavor, with an especially crisp, dry finish.

Deep brown color with almost no head. Malty banana, clove, and honey aroma. Spicy clove and bubblegum flavor with a bit of a metallic aftertaste. Pretty decent beer.

My second from the sampler 12 pack, Lunar pours a nice looking deep brown smiliar to slow brewed ice tea. A decent head, but small considering its bottle conditioned, hardly any lace. Aroma of banana and clove was nice. Flavor of malts and not much else. Mouthfeel was good. Overall a pretty good beer but not much to write home about.

Unremarkable brown pour with a bready malt backbone. Lots of roast and some banana notes. Thin and watery and a bit astringent. Not my favorite beer. I can find nothing else useful to say about this boring beer.

One of the more interesting brews from Boulevard. Very definite dunkelweizen character but with the lightly sweet bready malt expected in an English Brown Ale. Cloudy brown with a quickly disappearing tan head. Lightly spicy and fruity aroma of clove and banana, but also earth and toffee. Nice round flavor; sweet and rich with an acidic, slightly sour-tinged finish. 'Gentle Moon' by Sun Kil Moon

one in the sixer looking pretty but surrounded, like bellvue!?!? .... not a very full for a beer of this kind, but a good gateway drug ... but, it actually kinda nice, has just this little something to it .. pendulum's blood sugar drops! .... no real foam, strange .."who pumped ethyl" ... needs more to be a great one..

Pours an iced-tea brown with a nice cream head and some lacing. Some carbonation. Aromas of sweet caramel malts, slight hops and Juicy Fruit gum. Taste is slightly sweet with a good malt back bone and smooth very slight hopped finish.

This dunkel weizen pours a slightly cloudy amber brown color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is wheaty, yeasty and sweet. A light to medium bodied dunkel. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are slightly spicy. There is a sort of lactic/tart quality here as well. Kind of thin and watery tasting as well. It could be a bad bottle, but wow this is not a dunkel weizen. Its more of a drain pour. Lively carbonation. Mouthfeel is thin. Finish is crisp. Aftertaste is tart and lactic.

I need not state what it looks like or anything about its head. That has been done. But it's the taste that fascinates me. It is not often that my lady friend and I like the same brew. Though we disagree on the flavor. She says that it's orange. I say it's anise. Now that I'm sitting here I can taste both. I think that Lunar is a nice refreshing summer brew. Well worth a try.

Sampled from bottle and on draft at a KC Royals game. Pours murky brown with a collared head. Its aroma is mostly yeast phenols. Balanced and smooth with the same yeast phenols dominating the flavor. Resembles duvel yeast characteristics. Interesting & a bit strange, but there's no way I'd sit down & enjoy a few of these at one setting.

Pours dark brown, somewhat cloudy, with minimal, scattered head. The aroma is roasty with some spices notable. I deem the flavor weak and disappointing. Mild and watery coffee is about all I can say to describe it. I wanted to get a whole 6-pack, but Brett having tried it at a KC ballgame recently, insisted I get only a single. Boy was he right.
