Sampled on 4/22/2012. This weizen bock pours a medium orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head with nice retention and good lacing. The aroma is fruity and sweet, banana, clove, with some orange and orange peel. And yes there are some hops as well. It wouldn’t be a Lagunitas beer if it did not have some hops now would it? A medium to full bodied weizen bock. The malts are fruity, caramel and sweet, with a bunch of banana and clove. The hops are herbal and spicy with a touch of citrus. Lively carbonation. Nice yeasty flavor, with a lot of banana. Its hoppy for a weizen bock, but not for a Lagunitas beer. Was someone physically holding the brewer back fro adding EMH (even more hops). The yeast and the hops shine through in this beer, with a touch of hops at the finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Wonderful dark fruit aroma, perhaps even apricot. Medium mouthfeel and caramel dominates the flavor. There was something indistinct in the aftertaste, like burnt caramel which was distracting for me, but overall a nice beer.

A very nicely done double weizen but still no match for any of the genuine german styles. I love Lagunitas and this is a good beer, but just not as good as what I know can be done. Nice blend of caramel, wheat and alcohol, refreshing and not cloying, medium bodied and easy to drink.

Golden tan body with almost no cap, just a sad bubble ring around the edge of the glass. Aroma is a good but not good. It has an odd but pleasant rubbing alcohol, orange peel maybe lemon, hints of caramel, some wheat type malts, and caramel. Taste is the same but better. Mouth feel seems thin and thats all I have to say about that. Brew reminds me of a Belgian strong more than any German beer. Apple, wood, yeast, wheat, hints of banana. Good drinking beer, goes down smooth and easy but still has a kick. I LIKE IT!!!!

Lots of bread, banana, cloves, wheat, and some alcohol, in both the aroma and flavor departments. Nice cloudy orange body, but not much head or lace to speak of. Nice job by Lagunitas, i kinda expected them to try and put some extra hops in there, thankfully they didnt.

Shared this with some friends while we watched his tortoise scramble about in the yard. Super full mouthfeel, which I was not expecting. Overload of fruits, especially bananas, which I was not expecting either. As can be surmised, this was quite a treat, but not one that I could have anticipated. Big fluffy head, opaque orange body. smells of wheat and yeast. Really well done Lagunitas!

From Pt Roberts (WA) Marketplace. Poured a very cloudy orange, and nary a trace of head. Aroma was maybe bread or banana (or both). Nice flavour, maybe clove and LOTS of alcohol. I hadn't even noticed the 9% ABV until I was done. Nice, smooth mouth and finish.

I had high hopes for this one. The picture on the label is quite attractive and anything that says “Bavarian” on it… well you can count me in. The label shows a massive head on what appears to be a weizen or better yet, dare I say, a dopel weizen beer. Unfortunately, I could not reproduce this picture in my glass regardless of how hard I tried. It poured flat and lifeless despite repeated agitation. Oh well. On to the taste. That is if I can get past the isopropyl alcohol aroma… Whoa. This tastes like flat grain alcohol. How disappointing. Skip it.

Thanks Judy! .. bought the same day as when i hung out with SugarNipples .. . Pours a orange light tan .. . almost no foam .. . a bit boozy, with lots of grain, wheat, cloves, and bruised intense banana . .. wall street is a good movie .. . this brew pulls you in quite a few directions, but the overdone booziness is what i'm left with, but i think this beer could do with maybe 6months to a year, maybe .. . . Man looks in the abyss, there's nothing staring back at him. At that moment, man finds his character. And that is what keeps him out of the abyss.

Sampled this beer last weekend and loved it! So I picked maself up another and it was still as amazing. Poured a cloudy orange with a fluffy head. Beautiful malts, flavorful, bready and filling. Taste has a continuous banana spicey blend that's fruity but at the same time hoppy. Yeasty finish is noticeable.
