Hefe-Weissbier Dunkel has a much higher proportion of dark wheat malt than Hefe-Weissbier hell because it is produced in a special process. Which is what gives it its irresistible chestnut-brown colour. The nutritious 12.4 percent of original wort makes it so wonderfully delicious. Its fresh, strong aroma is slightly reminiscent of roasted malt.

It took me many years of tracking this down to be able to finally taste one, and it was worth it. A nice dark brown pour, murky, with a medium sized cream coloured cap. The aroma is roasted malt, brown sugar, caramel, yeast, and spices. The flavour is sweet caramel/brown sugar up front, but there is a lingering hoppy finish,

The beer pours a hazed golden-brown with a genrous tan head. The aroma is wheat, banana, spices, and a sticky sweet odour. Mouthfeel is medoim bodied with average carbonation. Flavour is sweet, almost maply, with wheat and caramel in the mix. Quite good. -

Paulaner Dunkel Weizen is a dark, murky beer with a nice firm hefe style head on top. Looks good. Aroma is not really present, a bit of nuts like walnuts and almonds. A bit dusty. Flavour is a bit pale, nothing too special. Fresh and easy to drink, just above average.

Bottle. Poured a cloudy mahogany colored Hefe-Weizen with a three slight beige creamy foamy head that had a very long retention. Active carbonation. Some lacing. The aroma is wheat malts, yeast , fruity, banana, apples, notes of caramel. The flavour is wheat malts, light toasted malts, notes of caramel, aciditic fruits, citrus, spicy, cloves, cinnamom. The mouthfeel is round and slight watery. This medium bodied beer has a short finish. A nice refreshing Dunkel Hefeweizen.

the good folks at paulaner have done a fine job again. Dark brown and cloudy with a thick and lasting white head. Aroma of cloves, toffe and banana, taste mirrors the aroma but i there were hints of caramel malts. nice and smooth with a nice finish.

on tap at the Castle very fresh sample; Taps a clouded amber ( much like Schneider original) with a decent 2 finger sticky meringue cap that laces the glass as it drains. Aromas are well defined big banana, peach and clove with some malty sweetness..very pungent. Great wheat malt spine, fruity-spicey character medioum body with more substantial mouth feel than their pale hefeweizen. Starts semi-sweat with a honey and fresh biscuit discernment then the great fruit and spice tastes arrive to make a more complex mixture on the palate. Fishes semi-dry with a spicey biscuit after taste. A top tier commercial hefeweizen

Purchased in Germany. 500ml bottle with a 02.07 best by date on it. Pours a very cloudy dark brown with some hints of amber. The head is two fingers tall, and fades slowly to a to thick cap, leaving behind a solid sheet of foam in the glass. Smell; this has a solid wheat aroma, with a little clove and bananas. There's a very nice caramel malt presence as well. Pretty much what I would expect in a Dunkel Weizen, but not really outstanding. Taste; bananas and cloves are present in the flavor along with the wheat and caramel malts. This follows the aroma, but with a hint of bubblegum, and the other flavors are a bit more pronounced than the aroma was. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a very smooth carbonation, and the drinkability is really good. I would have no problem enjoying more than one of these in a night.

Not much foam, The foam is a bit brownish white. Brown color. Aroma is fruity, a bit citric. Taste is a bit metallic, but at the same time nicely wheaty and fruity. Not bad.

Nut brown colour, small foamy head. Sweet plummy raisin aroma. Bitterish plummy flavour with hints of raisins. Kind of watery and bitterness is a bit too strong in my opinion.
