Recipe 1 of Porter (and the first brew in our system!) was truly awesome. In this version we brought the original gravity down a touch but kept the malt ratios the same to create a softer and less alcoholic finished beer. Pours smooth and creamy creating a dark brown to near black beer that glows around the edges with amber highlights beneath a dense milk chocolate and mocha colored foam. The aroma is alive with fresh brewed coffee, a touch of dark caramel, chocolate, fresh cookies and tootsie roll. The deep rich flavours are matched with a delicate hopping that provides a balancing bitterness creating an easy drinking, light to medium bodied Porter with a clean, slightly roasty finish. This is my favourite beer from the Beer Academy line. If I didn't know iut was a porter, I would have thought it was an excellent example of a plain stout. Pours a rich dark brown with black edges. Lots of roast and vanilla in the nose, along wioth a little fruit and some vanilla. Not overly bitter on the tongue, always a plus iwth a porter or stout.

Growler. Colour - solid dark brown, 1" brown cap. Aroma - roasted malt, licorice, coffee, chocolate. Mouthfeel - medium to full bodied. Flavour - balanced between bitter and sweet, ending with bitter. Overall - very good take on an old style.
