An anacronistic beer for me...pretty much average in most ways but the combination of it's characteristics really works for me. Not a beer I'd drink across an evening, but when I need something with a good, malty taste and silky mouthfeel to wake up my tastebuds...Beck's Dark is a good choice (if nothing superior is available.)

A nice brown colored beer with jus a tinge of red. Maybe just a little bit light in flyover for such a drank colored beer. Best drank ice cold because it seems to start to have a little bit of metal taste.

Skunky armoa, nice reddish brown body, but virtually no head. Typical taste for mainstream German beer, but not quite as good as regular Beck's. Also unlike most German beers, this one best served cold.

I know not many like this stuff in the reviews, but I must say it is not too bad considering the many other grocery store lagers and a like. In this case not a lot of head and what is there is short lived. Flavor is nicely bitter, maybe not terribly complex but is all in all refreshing and you can't really fuss about the price.

This was a total let down. Massed produced rubbish. It was very cheap and i quickly realized why. It did smell inv iting but in the mouth it was a lite lite beer. Went down like water but there was no kick no buzz no nothing. I will not drink this again.

Much like the regular Becks, this beer's aroma is not good. The skunkiness just doesn't do it for me. Nothing stands out in the flavor--mostly just light malt. Also too watery for my liking.

A dark brown colored beer. Small off white head settles into a nice lacing. There is skunkiness in the aroma and I started to get turned off. Watery, not much body here. So faint the malt, nothing else in the water. This was a big disappointment.

I prefer this over the regular Beck's. It has more of a dark brown appearance, sort of like a porter. More flavor, mainly of chocolate malts and caramel.... sweeter than the regular. Seems a bit smoother and crisper too. Aroma is slightly skunky, but the taste makes up for it. Whenever at a restaurant ordering and they say they have Beck's, if that's the best they have, I always ask if they have Beck's Dark. They usually won't say off the bat, but worth asking in case they carry the dark.

Part 2 of my Sunday afternoon with Becks, while watching the NFL Draft (day 2). Beer was on sale for $5.99 a sixer here locally, so I figured why the hell not. Been quite awhile since I drank a Becks, and honestly this wasn't all that bad. Great? Hell no, but far from a drain pour.
So the beer pours out a clear, chocolatey brown color with a tight light brown/beige 1" head. The beer left no lacing in my glass, and the head melted away to just a thin flimsy head. Aromas are nice with a bit of light chocolate malts, a touch of caramel malts and pears but it unravels a bit as it warms up with the dreaded arrival of that damned metallic taste I despise. Flavor is moderately sweet, unrefined, with just a bit of wet dirt/earthy hops (maybe it was the yeast?). Not horrible, but passable and for $1 a bottle, even better. -

This thin beer is packaged in a green bottle with a gay gold wrapper. If you enjoyed drinking Loenbrau in the 80's, this beer is for you. The head is slightly impressive, but it all stops there. It looks like watered down root beer. The smell is a tincture of aluminum. The mouthfeel is thicker than I expected for the pour, but the taste is among the worst that I've had. I detect B vitamins, aluminum and wet grass. The finish is of urine and multivitamins. Please stop making this.

drinkable, but ultimately substandard brew. WAYYYYY better than the "regular" stuff...more flavor, didn't smellas bad, etc...but not something i'd get again.
