Beau’s All Natural Brewing Co. has teamed up with Bridgehead for this Wild Oats Series release. Winterbrewed is an amber ale that has been infused with Nicaraguan Specialty Coffee. It features toasty, biscuity notes from the malt, a herbal, slightly fruity contribution from the hops and strong coffee flavours & pronounced Dutch-processed cocoa aromas from the coffee, grown in Madriz, Nicaragua. Like all our beer, Winterbrewed is organic and Bridgehead coffee is organic and fair trade.

Pours a huge frothy creamy off white head that give soff good lacing. Has a clear amber/copper appearance. Aromas of dark roasted coffee grinds and mild notes of cocoa. Roasted malts and coffee flavour is somewhat mild but quite apparent, actually nicely balanced with hops and malts. Has notes of caramel and a bit of mocha. Great taste, not too sweet and not too bitter. Pretty weak carbonation. Has a nice slick mouthwarming sensation. Really great taste and gets better as it warms up.

Bottle. Pours a light chestnut color with a small off white cap. Aroma of toasted cereals and coffe are intense. Slick mouth feel, rich character. THe front side of this amber ale has massive coffee tastes riding just above some wondrful toasted malts, hopping is in the background and compliments the bitter end of the coffee. Long wet finish where coffee drops back a bit to expose the hop bite. A very nice brew. If I closed my eyes I'd have thought I was drinking a coffee-infused bockbier, it's that smooth and well condiioned.

The beer pours a translucent dark red colour with a generous creamy tan head. The aroma is tropical fruit, dark coffee, and roasted malt. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is similar to an iced coffee with some alcohol. Not a whole lot of complexity. The wild oats series has been hit and miss with me. -

Tried this one at the Bridgehead on Sparks street in Ottawa, February 2012 (as their launch to the Collabrewator). Pours an amber colour with a slight creamy white head that coats the brew. Mild bitter coffee aromas with fruitiness that gets better as the brew breathes and goes down. Very mild taste with some hop bitterness showing up in the finish. The coffee appears in the aftertaste. Overall started bland, but got was better near the end as it warmed up.
