Tasted on tap at the 11th Bistro Double IPA Festival on 2/12/2011. This black IPA pours a medium to dark amber color from the tap. Medium sized beige foamy head. The aroma is caramel, fruity and hoppy. A medium bodied black IPA. The malts are slightly roasty, caramel and fruity, semi sweet. The hops are floral and earthy. Semi-sweet. Decent carbonation. More malty than hoppy, the beer is somewhere between and IPA and a black IPA. Maybe a amber IPA? More of the malt profile of an amber, but the roasty malts and hops of a Black IPA. Very drinkable. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
