Received as a gift. Pours a dark brown/black color with a rocky tan head. Thick, clinging lacing. Big roasted aroma with notes of chocolate and vanilla and a hint of medicinal hops. Roasted malt dominates the flavors with malted milk balls, chocolate, vanilla and a hint of booziness on the end. Drying, almost puckering finish. Has some qualities of an American Porter or Stout. No date, but was surprised that it had a minimal hop presence. Still, a nice American Black Ale from a small, local brewer.
