This classic dark English ale is flinty, oily and wonderfully smooth. It is teasingly acrid with notes of bitter chocolate and coffee. The inclination is to resist; the result is acquiescence and embrace.

A lighter porter, with flavors of coffee and chocolate. Has a thinner feel. Appearance is medium brown at best. I thought this was a European porter because of the flatter feel and density, but noticing from Japan...which kind of explains it. Good beer...I just prefer something heavier and more robust.

Pours a creamy dark brown/black with a nice fluffy head that stays for a while. Aroma is of roasted malts, coffee and a little bit of chocolate. Taste is slightly dry yet full bodied. Detect hints of bitterness and carbonation. Finishes off a tad dry and bitter. Very crisp. Very nice porter!

Sampled on 3/23/2012. This porter pours a medium to dark brown/black color from a 120z bottle. Small to medium sized tan foamy head. The aroma is chocolate, coffee and sweet. A medium bodied porter. The malts are chocolate, coffee and cola. The hops are earthy and herbal. Nice carbonation. Decent balance. Touch of roasty malt, chocolate and cola at the finish. A little lingering bitterness. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

A dark brown colored beer with a big frothy textured light tan colored head. Great hang time on this one. Settles eventually into a nice sudsy top. The profile is burnt coffee, smoky mlt and fruit sweetness. Really a nice beer in a full, smooth body.

Really japanese, these jap beers are really intriguing me when I can get my hands on them. The propensity for tarty fruity flavours shows in this beer as well as others. Coffee, but tangy and a bit tart, if there is such a thing. Like a touch of cherry seeds that are left to dry in the sun after sitting on the deck. Smooth texture, medium to thin body, wet tasty, not dry at all. Slight bit of green hops which really throws the whole thing. Strange, unique, enjoyable, not outstanding, not sure how to crunch the numbers here.

My first whiff when I opened the bottle was rather fruity, more like a cider than a porter; the next whiff, though, was smoky and had a coffee tang. It pours a dark chocolaty brown with a fairly thick pale tan head that does not stick around for too long. Flavor has a strong burnt coffee component and a fruity, slightly sweet undertone. Texture is smooth and quite tingly, but not nice and thick like the best porters I have sampled. All in all, not a great porter, but definitely enjoyable.
