I have heard about this beer for a while and wanted to love it. The problem is that the beer was more of a malt bomb than a hop bomb. It reminded me of Great Divide's Hercules Double IPA. It is boardering on that barleywine line. I would've liked something more akin to a true high hoped IPA ... think 90 min. It wasn't a favorite but I can understand why those that do love this beer love it. It wasn't a bad beer, just different strokes for different folks.

I've been waiting... for a girl like you... to come into my life. Yeah, waiting.... What? It's 10.39%. Been waiting awhile to try this one. In fact, it's been kicking around my van and place for over six months. Smells more alcohol than you taste. Burnt orange, with a wee head, and decent lacing. Pretty sweet, but masks the ABV well. Politely citrusy. Generously piney. Killer smooth. Heavy mellow. Caramel cream. I'm done.

A nice boozy iipa. Looks good in the glass, nice burnt orange and mostly clear. Aroma is a bit weak for the style but not bad at all. Flavor is sticky malt that slightly overpowered the hops but based on avery's other big beers its what you would expect.

I've been able to enjoy this on tap and in bottles, and it always impresses me. A hugely hopped IIPA with an exceptional hop profile. Sticky, sweet, piney, with a blast of citrus. The biscuit and caramel malt flavors are a mere backdrop to the hops. Awesome offering.

Strong aroma is very hoppy, nearly evergreen, with a firm citrus underpinning that is mainly grapefruit with some sour orange. It pours a beautiful clear coppery brown with a thick and fluffy pale copper head. Scrumptious and highly pleasing hoppy flavor has tones of grapefruit, orange and caramel, with a hint of sweetness that perfectly balances the hoppy bitterness. Full-bodied texture is quite fizzy and lively, leaving a lip-smacking tingly, hoppy, slightly sweet finish. Strongly recommended to all IPA fanatics.

Absolutely righteous! On tap at the J. Clyde... drawn a nice clear amber with a slightly thin, but lightly fluffy off-white head. Pleasantly intense citrus aroma, pininess and hops... matches in flavor. Smooth on the pallette. Alcohol masked very well.

Nice almost clear amber pour with a perfect cream head and elegant lacing throughout. Big grapefruit and apricot hops aroma which is almost sweet and dank. Taste is epically hoppy with the massive grapefruit/apricot hops upfront with a slightly heavy mouthfeel that is both resiny and welcome. Big EPIC Impy IPA - been on the wish list for a long time. Worth the wait. Fantastic.

1 pt. 6 fl. oz. bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. OG 1090, ABV 10.41%. 102 IBU. Orange colour, big off-white head with an orangey hue. Strong sweetish aroma with notes of tropical fruits, citrus and pine, very nice. The flavour is sweet, alcoholic and dominated by an absurd amount of American hops from start to finish. Unbalanced. Another example of "overkill".

Pours a nice golden copper color with a white foamy head, it has nice lacing all the way to the finish. It has a real clean citrus flavor mainly orange with a hint of grapefruit. It is hoppy from start to finish without being over powering. The aroma is fresh with a hint of pine over all this beer is a plus.

Wow! First thing to notice is the wonderful citrusy smell--pineapple, grapefruit, orange; just excellent. Pours a clear, dark copper with an ample white fluffy head. Taste is obviously bitter but not as overwhelming as I expected. Strong malt presence yields some caramel sweetness to go with the citrus flavors. An excellent hop bomb.
