A traditional black porter, with a surprise twist - it's dry-hopped!! We've expanded the porter category a bit, adding a delightful, dry hop aroma to blend with the sweet caramel and chocolate characteristics of a Robust Porter. (Hop Variety: Columbus, Fuggles Malt Variety: Two-row barley, Munich 10L, chocolate, black, caramel 120L)

I can't review this beer fairly. I can't stand hoppy beer and this porter is more of a IPA. I took two drinks and poured it out. I hate buying a product that disappoints but this should be labeled IPA not porter.

Very nice over all.Great aromas, nice flavor. A smoothness, and fullness of a porter. The caramel malts came through nicely in this beer. I think it's a fine porter, and a classic example of what the porters were like when they made them in America.

Aromas of fresh floral hops some nice toasty malts and a touch of chocolate. Black- amber body thin ring if head, pretty nice lace. Flavors mirror the aromas, decent finish long and slighty toasty. Overall it's pretty good.

Strong, smoky aroma has an overtone of anchovies and notes of licorice and semi-sweet chocolate. It pours an opaque dark-chocolate brown with a thick and rather persistent pale beige head. Smoky flavor has earthy, malty, chocolate, nutty and licorice notes, with woody and molasses hints. Smooth, firm texture has a decent amount of fizz and leaves a smoky, malty, woody finish. Porter fans should appreciate this one.

Nice dark brown pour with an ample fluffy head and tight lacing. Sweet toasted malts aroma with some molasses, a touch of cocoa and coffee. Taste is creamy but almost thin with the toasted malts up front with the molasses sweetness then some cocoa and coffee.

Could be one of the best medium-priced porters that I had that is sold in 6-packs. Actually bought a single of this to try after scouting it a bit. Was in the “clearance” section at Knightly Spirits/Metrowest in Orlando. I asked how old those bottles were, was told about 2 months or so, so for $1.50 I said I’d take my chances. Turned out to be a great experience. Nice hearty aroma of chocolate malts and coffee, with a slight bitterness from the hops. Good dark brown, near black appearance with dark mocha colored head. Smooth semi-creamy taste of chocolate, coffee (but overwhelmingly so like a robust porter). Loved the balance on this one. Can’t wait to buy a 6’er of this!

hopped as heavily as some imperial porters, without the big body or heavy roasted flavors and abv. the body is a little thin, but smooth. the aroma and taste with the malt and dry hopped balance really works, especially as it warms. if it had more body, it'd be among my favorite porters.

It is a nice Porter but I have had better. Avery makes great beer. Pours a thick black color with a nice tan head. It has a slight chocolaty flavor .

This tastey brews pours a dark brown colour with a medium sized tan head. Aroma is pleasent, with a well rounded roaste malt character, fresh coffee grounds, and toffee. Mouthfeel is creamy, firm and generous, taste is delightful, finishes very smooth.

Stoutlover you are spot on. This beer pours like a porter. Dark black with a small creamy head. Not much aroma. Maybe some roasted grain and caramel if you stretch your imagination. The mouthfeel is slightly thin, but the taste is marvelous!!!! Taste is this beer's most redeeming quality. It's like a less filling Imperial stout. I never thought a hopped porter would taste so good. If you are looking for a great tasting introduction to porters and stouts, this is the beer to start with.
