Saisons originated with the rustic farmhouse ales of Wallonia, a mostly French-speaking region of Belgium. Bière de saison was brewed during the saison froide (cold season) for consumption during the warmer months. Today saisons are made and enjoyed year-round. Anchor Saison Spring Ale (7.2% ABV) is a traditional Belgian-style saison with a California twist. The distinctiveness of roasted Belgian wheat malt is enhanced by the peppery, clove-like flavors of a locally cultured saison-style yeast. And, for this release, Anchor chose three California ingredients—lemongrass, lemon peel, and ginger—whose synergy adds a tangy crispness and herbal spiciness to this sharply refreshing, uniquely Californian saison.

Very good as a Belgian pale ale or table beer. Light and refreshing not to much brett funk going on. I like it. Altho I do like brett funk in Belgian beer. Nice coppery yellow pour with a nice nose of brett and fruit. Easy on the palate with good finish. Clean. Will look for more.

Has that Belgian farmhouse flavor, but not so much that saison bubbly feel. Almost like a Belgian IPA hybrid. Grassy, light citrus, yeasty, and mildly hopped. Lighter semi-clear orange appearance. Found a single of this on clearance for a buck....good enough to try again.

Pours a rusty orange with a white head, no head retention, lots of carbonation, beer is clear, no lacing. The aroma is of Belgian yeast, spice, coriander, honey, ginger, pepper, slight lemon notes. The taste up front was, Belgian yeast with spice, pepper, clove, touch of ginger, in the middle there's some lemon, finish is dry and citrusy with a touch of spice, no alcohol on the flavor. The mouthfeel was light/medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation, dry finish.

A bright bronze colored beer with a small, three fingered sudsy textured red-beige head rising above. There's some hang time on the head. It settles into a moderate ringlet. A vinegary, funked nose. Lots of pepper, ginger in the tasting. Full rich body.

Light bronze body, with a thin, wispy cap that receded quickly. Aromas of spices, lemon and a touch of bubblegum. Flavor is much the same with the spices coming out with a toasty finish. Overall, not really a saison, but a fair beer.

Liked it as a Belgian ale, but not really as a saison. Had that Sam Adams grains of paradise thing going on (though GOP are not present)...a touch heavy in body for the style, but it worked, kinda. Peppery and spiced, liked the light ginger and lemongrass throughout. Not their best, but nice enough.
