Huge marketing campaign, beer not so huge. Both Rickard’s (Molson) and Alexander Keith’s (Labatt) decided to come out with Belgian style white beers at the same time and neither one was really all that good, and certainly not in the Hoegaarden stratosphear. This is a cloudy yellow beer with a weak aroma of wheat and orange peel and the flavour of coriander spiced sweat socks.

Hazy golden yellow with white foam head. Aroma is malty with spices and citrus. Taste is very refreshing citrus with malty tones. Fresh fruity aftertaste. (Montreal 201210)

They may as well bottle/can the orange wedge with the beer. Colour - hazy gold, white head. Aroma - weak citrus, some spice. Mouthfeel - thin to medium. Flavour - sweet citrus. Overall - Possibly the best of the AK line of beers, which isn't saying much.

Had at the "Lone Star" in the hotel ghetto adjacent to Toronto's Pearson Airport. Looks/smells(what scent??)/tastes allee samee as Rickard's White. Also comes with the now apparently de rigeur orange slice. This shit must be the new Corona of the 2010-decade.

Tries this bout out of the bottle and on tap and was rather impressed considering Keith's generally sucks. The body is very soft and easy on the pallate. The draught version is heads and tails superior to the bottle packaged version, although the taste in the bottle version is much stronger. This has become my go to beer when out for lunch or dinner with the family. Between this and the red they do seem to be improving.

Bottle: Poured a golden color ale with a small bubbly head with minimal retention and no lacing. Aroma of light spices with some weird adjunct crap and no real notes of wheat. Taste is also dominated by some crap adjunct with some very faint wheat and subtle spices at the end. Body is a bit thin with some average carbonation. This is a real shame that they have dumbed down a easily accessible style.

Please, someone explain to me how this recipe got off of the back of a greasy crumpled napkin and into the hands of a brewer. I would applaud if this brewery went under. What a pile of crap. This is a prime example of how to keep the masses from experimenting. Smell - what smell? There is no smell. The taste is no more than bland watery beer foam. THERE IS NOTHING HERE!!! Unbelievable. Nothing gross about it... just nothing at all. Rickards White crushes this - what does that say? Congrats goes to Rickards for no longer being the worst Wit beer on the market.

Had this on tap fairly fresh, far better than the packaged product. Taps a hazey yellow-gold color with a modest puffy cap which does not last too long. Modest lacing on the glass. Large bubbles, not naturally carbonated. Aroma is very light but free of offensive smells...spices, citrus sweetness some light hop. Profile is surprisingly decent for a commercial effort. Light sweet biscuity start goes dry midway where citrus, spice and hops dry up the palate, finish is dry. This comes off like a light, blandish corporate version of Hoegaarden and if it has a fault it’s that it may be a tad sweet. Still the best of the Canadian commercial witbiers.

CRAP PURE CRAP. Mildly hazy, clear golden to light orange body with no cap what so ever. Smell is non-existent and that’s all I can say about that. Taste is very watery, with wheat and citrus so mild you have to fight to taste it and no spice at all. No real malt character, and in my opinion overly carbonated and thin. Worst Wit I’ve ever had, even Rickards white destroys this. It was like my pint was half filled with water before they added the beer. Whatever this was it was barley a Wit, but was drinkable as there were no offensive flavors. Why did they even produce the crap and attempt to market it as a wit?!?!?!? I guess they got to try to keep up with Rickards who also did a poor job but at least it could pass as a Wit. For the contest of Labbat vs. Molson this round goes to Molson. This just sucked.

The beer was a hazy gold colour with a very thin white soapy-like head. There was very little effervescence. The aroma was weak wheat malt, and some citrus (but that may have been the small chunk of orange affixed to the rim of the glass). The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with mild carbonation. The flavour was sweet wheat malt, some peppery spiciness, and finished with a mild bitterness. I tried the beer because it was the only thing in the restaurant I hadn’t tried. I may never try it again
