Abita Amber is a Munich style lager, and it is a good one in my opinion. This beer has a really nice crystal malt character, and is quite balanced. Abita Amber pours to a deep amber color with a nice white head, and a soft carbonation. The nose on this beer has some really nice malt aromas, and is balanced with some nice hop aromatics. The palate is a firm malt backbone of crystal malt flavors, slightly sweet, and a touch toasty. The body is really smooth and round. This is a very drinkable beer. This beer finishes will more malt character up front, then in balanced with a nice short, hop bitterness. Really a well done, balanced, smooth, drinkable, lager. Good malt flavors, and just the right amount of hop bitterness to balance. This beer worked very well with an appetizer of "alligator bites" which are battered and fried chunks of alligator meat, served with a spicy, Tabasco spike dipping sauce. This beer also worked well with an entree of Jambalaya, a rice dish loaded with spicy taso ham, andouille sausage, shrimp, and okra. Often I pair a very hop accented brew to stand up to spicy fare, but a malt accented, balanced brew such as Abita Amber, works well with spicy fare too. I switched up to Turbo Dog for desert though. Its chocolatey character made the perfect foil to cranberry bread pudding and whiskey sauce. I would also match Abita Amber is German fare, it would work well with grilled bratwurst, and roasted pork or chicken dishes.

Clear yellow to copper color. Doesn’t seem even close to amber in color. Thin head. Weak aroma. I smell almost nothing. I taste some really nice hop bitterness that pushes it out of style a bit. There is some caramel flavor notes that are a little less sweet than I’d expect. Nice light beer that kind of misses the Amber Lager style. Really could use more body.

A darker than average free spirited and easy appearance. Gallant carbonation. Taste is intriguing without being offensive. Meloncholy yet lighthearted. I don’t think this is on par with Rivertowne Last Chance Vienna Lager but it is ceratinly better than Penn Pilsner and Schell firebrick. Serene tranquil finish. Could easily drink again.

Bottle: Poured a rusty copper with a off creamy white head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Taste is caramel malt and metallic hops.

Small white head decent retention and lace. Clear copper color. Toasty malt nose. Light/medium body. Light malt flavors, not much else. Fairly dry finish.

The beer pours a slightly hazed amber color topped with a light cream colored head that lasts a while. Toasted malt, caramel, bread, light earthy hops, and citrus comprise the aromatic notes of this beer. Mouthfeel is average and sticky. Flavor tends towards the sweet side of the amber spectrum with lots of caramel.

Taps clear dark amber with a thick and rather persistent creamy eggshell head that leaves generous lacing. Aroma presents fruity and malty notes, not strong but serviceable. Flavor features malty and pomme tones, typical but enjoyable. Mouthfeel delivers OK, if slightly slimy, body and good fizz. Not terrific, but worth a try - have one with dinner or during a game.

12 oz bottle. Hazy light amber, thin but tight head, no retention, minimal lace. Aroma is crystal malt, caramel, bread, light grassy hops. Flavor is light crystal malt, caramel, barely noticeable hop bite.

Amber, from bottle so little more to tell about the looks of this beer. Caramel aroma and taste. Smooth drinking, short lasting aftertaste. (Houston 201501)

I had this beer at the Quarter in Roanoke, VA. This wasn't bad and went well with the aligator tail and seafood assortment. Otherwise, it is not anything I would write home about. A very standard amber.

Pours a dark golden color. Smell is mild, some grains. Taste is also mild, rather bland, a bit of malt but not much going on. Overall nothing offensive, just a very boring beer.
