Blend of 1, 2 and 3 year old lambic. Fermented and lagered in oak vessels. In this bottle the young yeast is brought to sleep ('ingedoesjeld') so the original lambic flavors are preserved. This beer has no head, just like lambic. The lambic is brewed with 60% barley, 40% wheat.

750 ml "champagne" bottle, at local tasting, thanks to abemorsten. ABV is 6%. Deep golden to orange colour, moderate carbonation, no head. Strong musty and funky aroma, notes of horse stable, hints of oak. The flavour is sharp and funky, hints of bitter cider apples, peppery finish.

Another very good lambic from the Drie Fonteinen brewery. A reddish-gold pour with no lingering head. Tart muskiness and earth tones greet the nose with a hint of light fruits. The flavour is extremely tart and funky, and well balanced.

375 ml bottle from Perry’s in Livermore -
Aroma - vinegar, light funk, citric acid/lemons, tart candy but seemingly lacking somehow. Just didn’t punch me in the face like 3F normally does.
Appearance - dark golden yellow body, cloudy with zero head. Bubbles present were from a semi-aggressive pour.
Taste - huge lemon/grapefruit bitterness, light funk, citric acid and again...some kind of tart candy like Sweet Tarts. Acidicness seems to spike at about a 5 or 6 on a scale of 10.
Palate - watery, almost zero carbonation...watery
Overall - probably my least favorite 3F product to date. Almost like a beginner gueuze if there is one. Definitely not a punch in the ’nads like I expect them to be. -

Sampled on 9/10/2009. This Lambic gueuze pours a apple juice yellow gold color from a corked and caged 375ml bottle. The beer was bottled on Feb 23, 2006. A very minimal to small white foamy head. The aroma is tart, funky, horse blanket, musty and sweet. There is also a touch of oak. A medium bodied lambic/gueuze. The malts are fruity and sweet, with a lot of tartness and funkiness. There is some woodiness at the finish. There is just a touch of carbonation here, it just hits the tongue and disappears. It kind of mellow and somewhat unassuming, which I assume is from the blending. Very nice, very drinkable gueuze, its tart and funky without being over the top. Yet the tartness seems to intensify as it warms. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is tart and funky.

Ho hum for sure. Poured a amber color with to much carbonation. Aroma was a ton of horseblankets and just barnyard funk. Flavor was much the same but was over spiced. Was just an okay brew.

Pour was hazy golden to amber in color, the pour deceptively revealing carbonation, although it didn't really come through in the mouthfeel much at all. Aroma was funk, hoseblankets, leather, light oak. The flavor was all of that, but it wasn't much sour/tart overkill like others of its style, and spicey notes were all behind the funk. Some apples and grapes were mixed in, but I didn't find this to be one of the more complex lambic/gueuze concoctions out there. Somewhat straight forward and simple, perhaps to the point of even being accused of being watery in that sense. Nice, but if it didn't say 3F on it, doubt many would be that impressed. It's certainly not worth import pricing premiums!

Bottle: Poured hazy amber/orange color lambic with a medium foamy head with some retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of funk and barnyard note are right on but I would still have appreciated some more granny smith notes. Taste is surprisingly quite watery with a thin body but there are sufficient funky and barnyard notes to keep things interesting. I am a big fan of this brewery but I must admit that I was slightly disappointed with the results of this one.

Bottle at tasting at Chris Fischer’s (from Liars Club) house. Pours with a deep golden body topped by a thin head with a little lacing left behind. It’s sour and tart with a touch of underlying sweetness and a nice funk. Light bodied, crisp and dry.

Bottled. Golden colour, basically no head. After yeast goes in hazy dark golden/nutbrown colour. Aroma is barnyard, very much sourness as well as some wooden notes. Flavour is dry sour fruity and woodenness along with some mild grass and even a bit vanillaish notes. Some slight acidic sourness stays in the aftertaste. Very nice. Gets more barnyardy and earthy after the yeast is poured in, which also takes away some of the sharp sourness. I like this one better with the yeast in. Numbers for rating are given after yeast is in. Without yeast about 3.7.
