Pours hazy dark apricot with a minimal eggshell head. Shy aroma offers tropical and citrus plus a touch of raw malt. Tart flavor features tropical and citrus fruit and fresh malt. Texture yields fair body and peppy fizz.

Sampled from bottle. Pours straw gold with a faint haze. White head is lasting due to champagne-like effervescence. Strong horse blanket, musty aroma with some fruitiness in the background. Complex flavor dominated by yeast funk. Sour with tropical fruit, barnyard. Highly carbonated. Worth seeking out.

Embrace the Funk Fest. One of the last releases of the festival. Hazy golden color, short bubbly head, some lacing, well carbonated. FUNK and sour aroma and flavor, white grape skins meet sour-tart monster, musty, more tart, mild gooey cheese, more funk, very light floral honeysuckle, ultra earthy, Fantastic! Great Belgian.

Tanks Jeff for storing this for many years. For pour one the beer was crystal clear with a thick creamy cap, for number two it got hazy. Funky lemon wood with a big sour bite. Aroma is an aroma. Baaaa this beer is intence. Sour war head gumballs with rotting lumber, why cherry ( this just me who taste this ) No tonic and bile in this one. Good beer for style.

Clear darker yellow with thick head disappearing fast because of sourness of the beer. Quite some carbons. That disturbes the intense taste of the beer. Strong aroma with honey, citrus, oak, bit sulphury. Very complex flavor, bit sour: hops, grapefruit, oak, honey, pine trees and pineapple. Aftertaste with some hoppy and oaky bitterness. Just tremendous - bottle pour is hazed orange with tons of carbonation. Aromas range from barnyard funk to fruit - pears and apples. Amazingly tart with flavors of apples and oak that finish with a linging sourness. This is my favorite Gueze - bottle was dated March 2009.

Sour-lemon, grassy earth type funky aroma, not bad but not really something that makes me want to put it in my mouth real quick like. Hazy yellow pour with a touch of brown, a clear white fizzy head. Flavor is actually quite mild and balanced compared to the aroma, very nice drinker, would be great with food or on a hot day. More complex than a straight sour.

It pours a hazy and thick brown-sugar color with a thick and foamy white head and some lacing leftover. An aroma of caramel malts, sugar, tart apples, citrus fruits, brown sugar, and spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth and rich. Flavors of tart tart apples, caramel malts, grapefruit, pears, brown sugar, bitterness, and spiciness. Wow! the tart in this one...

Reasonably new territory for me, so trying to be reasonable within style. For the uninitiated, this one is a huge leap. Pours frosty orange yellow with a low white head. Aroma is sour. Mouth is sour. Flavor is sour. Think peppery funk, tart, grass, acid. Having said that, as it warms it kind of grows on ya. Definitely could imagine this going well with stinky cheese.

Sampled numerous times over the years and while always a wonderful treat, I discover different subtleties each and every time. Sometimes it's a vibrant puckering sour punch while others (such as tonight) it's funky, fruity, sour and a bit meaty. This particular bottle is from March of 2008 and while tame compared to the last time I had it still tickles the senses. Very comparable if not the leader of the pack among De Ranke, Cantillon, Oud Beersel, and even Russian River.
