A new brew concocted by Jean Van Roy to celebrate the 2003-2004 Division III title for the local Union St. Gilles football team and its upgrade to Division II. Cuvee des Champions is not a traditional 'gueuze,' in that it is made from only two year-old 2001 lambic, not from a blend of older and younger lambics. It is also dry-hopped in the cask for three weeks with fresh Styrian Goldings hops. Re-fermentation in the bottle is achieved with the addition of a small amount of candi sugar.

Opaque orange no foam head. Sour aroma, green apples. Likewise taste. Getting used to taste takes time over and over, still I like it and keep coming back to this beer. (Elfelling 201408)

has always been a little too steep to buy a bottle, so when i saw it on tap - had to jump on board. pretty straightforward baryard funk and lemon, with a hint of sweet and dry as well. not a ton going on, but it did tart very well. acidic flavor and feel.

Tasted at the February Northern California Beer Tasting. This lambic pours a deep yellow gold color. Large sized white foamy head. Aroma is lemon, sour, funk, must and a touch of sweetness. A medium bodied lambic. WOW. There is a lot of funk and a lot of sourness in this beer. Lively carbonation. It very very dry. Yet the acidity doesn’t seem that bad. Tart, maybe that’s the word for it, and then there is the funk. Nice beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Another of the Christmas Eve beers shared by the family. This beer pours out a cloudy orange hue, with a fluffy white foamy head with some nice lacing. Aroma of lemonheads, aromatic cheeses, acidic, and a touch of wood. Mouthfeel is bright and lively with the liquid dancing on your tongue. Flavors was lemons, funk, Granny Smith apples, and stomach acid. Even with the acidity, it's really nicely balanced and doesn't give you a nut-check like some of the other Cantillon products tend to do.

Bottle, at RBESG 2007 in Glasgow, Grand Tasting. Cloudy golden colour. Very nice lemony aroma, hints of oak and barnyard. Lemony and fairly dry flavour, refreshing and nice.

Hazy orange colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is enormously sour with some wooden and fruity hints. Flavour is very sour with slight hints of fruits. Very dry palate. Very wellbalanced, and pleasant gueuze.

Hazy pale orange appearance with a small dissapearing white head. Fresh acidic lemon aroma with notes of barnyard, green apple-skins, flowers and grapefruit. Acidic flavour of grapefruit, Granny Smith apples, hay and a subtle tone of hops. Bone dry finish of grapefruit, wood and grass. Damn good.

Vintage: Bottled in 2004. This was fantastic, a great gueze, even though it was only a two year blend vs. a three year. Poured a slight amber yellow color with a nice initial head that didn't lace great. Aroma was burnt rubber and some citrus, lots of funk going on. The flavor was solid, lots of citrus, tart, funky, barnyard, and a light wheaty base. This was really nicely done. Lots of tart. Acidic mouthfeel. I'm a fan of these things. Never woulda thunk it.
