*Silver Medal, 2011 World Beer Championships* A Northwest American-Style IPA. The color comes through as a deep gold with orange hues. Fruity and citrusy hop aroma shines, with hints of pine resin. The four hop flavor dominates, re-enforcing the aroma with more citrus, fruity and piney notes. The malt character is clean and smooth with a unique toasted flavor (thanks to the generous helping of Victory malt), all held together by a firm bitterness. Apocalypse has a medium-bodied mouth feel, finishing crisp and dry. All of this results in a very drinkable IPA. Malts: 2-row Pale, Victory, Crystal Hops: Horizon, Centennial, Amarillo, Cascade ABV: 6.5% IBU’s: 65

The beer pours a slightly hazed golden color with light red hues. The cap is off-white, rocky, and lasts. Lacing is decent. Aroma is biscuit malt and a ton of hops. Mouthfeel is thick, and great for the style. Taste is very resiny with some citrus and grass to balance it out. Nice and bitter!

An IPA in the truest American sense. Lots of Pacific Northwest hops in this baby! A cloudy pour, an amber gold in colour, with a thin creamy light tan cap. Again, pine and citrus dominate the aroma with hints of grass and spices. Citrus dominates the flavour as well, nicely balanced by the malt.

Pours clear topaz with a thick eggshell head. Aroma features resiny hops, floral, malty and fruity tones, demanding a taste. Flavor offers resiny hops, fresh malt, floral and sweet citrus tones - definitely drinkable. Mouthfeel presents fair body and good fizz. Save a few bottles for the Apocalypse.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy golden orange with a big fluffy white head that retains well and laces the glass some.
The aroma is sweet crystal malts with grapefuit and piney grassy hops.
The flavor is sweet biscuity malts with fruit and some grassy piney hops that have a lot of bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, a solid IPA but not too well balanced between the sweet biscuit malt and strong grassy hops. -

Bomber from Haggen, Burlington WA. Pour of darker gold with a fluffy, ivory head. Aroma was the best thing here, lots of pine and citrus, with a lesser portion of tropical fruit. Okay mouthfeel, but nothing more than okay. Good enough flavour, with the pine, citrus, and fruit. Malt sweetness appears at the end.

Bottle from Phishpond. Orange-ish pour, fluffy white head, nice lacing. Tropical hops aroma and flavor, blood oranges, citrus fruits, some pineapple, nice long bitter nicely offset by adequate malt sweetness. Nice IPA - thanks Travis!

Enjoyed at Three Penny Taproom in Montpelier, VT. Pours a slightly haze amber colour with good lacing all around and a head with decent retention. Good hoppy nose with orange notes. Same flavours with the nice orange blending over the hop. A nice mix of citrus (grapefruit for hop, orange-fruitiness for malts). Quite refreshing.

Not a bad beer by any means but I have to agree with Flash, its only average for the style. Especially when you consider where it comes from. In the land of giants this is more of a midget. Still, easy drinking and decent beer flavor, a bit over malty for the style but doesn't hurt the flavor.

Damn. $3.99 for a 22. And for this 22! Shit's good. I'm telling you. Pretty much what you'd expect from a NW IPA. Aggressive. All up in your shit. Dank, fertile mouthfeel. Delicious

A beer with a barrel on is must be all about roundness of character! Nice full hopps, no jagged edges, sweentess and maltyness to "round out" all the other attributes.
