The beer poured a coca-colour with a fluffy brown head. The aroma was dark roasted malt, bitter coffee hints, and some plums. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied, with slightly high carbonation. The taste was bitter with molasses, coffee and maltiness throughout. A very good beer

The beer poured a very dark brown with a very thin, short-lived brown head. The aroma was roasted malt, some coffee, and some molasses. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied (weak for a stout) and mildly carbonated. The taste was bitter coffee, and watery. An alright beer, but unlikely to be tried again by me.

Smokeless Joe’s (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – 125 John Street)
    750ml bottle
    10.50% ABV
    Bottled On: 2006 Vintage
    $51.95
The beer poured a translucent pale brown with a bubbly, effervescent head that was fed by a constant stream of effervescence in the Deus flute. The aroma was earthy and yeasty with some citrusy hints in the mix. The mouthfeel was very light, and highly carbonated. The flavour was very malty and yeasty. No hint of alcohol in the taste, but I felt it in the head. Being 11.5%, I was expecting a far sweeter taste but was pleasantly surprised. I have to admit, at $51.95 before taxes, I would have hoped for elixer of the Gods.

The beer poured a muddy brown with almost no head (although the bartender persisted that one he poured the previous night had a huge frothy head). The aroma was malt and a strong piney, citrusy scent. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour had a malt backbone with a very hoppy finish. An excellent beer.

The beer poured a pale gold with a thick, foamy, white head that lasted. The aroma was grainy malt, and a little honey. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with mild carbonation. The flavour was more grainy malt, some milky tones, and a little honey. Nothing spectacular about this one.

Part of the 'Old Scottish Ales' 4-pack. The beer poured a transparent muddy brown colour with a short-lived thin head. The aroma was very weak, but there were hints of sweet malt. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, and mildly carbonated. The flavour was bitter, and sweet. Hints of both spruce and pine come through with the malt. The ingredients do not list hops on the bottle - interesting.
