The beer pours a medium honey gold colour, slightly cloudy, and a creamy white head. The aroma was malt, bananas, sweets spices, and a little citrus. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with a slippery feel, and mild carbonation. The flavour was malty, slightly sweet, with a little spice and citrus notes thrown in.Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 10 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9

The beer poured a dark brownish-black with little or no head. The aroma was dark sweet malt, with some chocolate hints. The mouthfeel was full-bodied, velvety, and mildly carbonated. The flavour was complex and included dark malt, sweet malt, some coffee and some chocolate. This beer was more stoutlike than a Scottish Ale.Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

The beer poured a translucent red colour (a lighter red) with almost no head. The aroma was weak, some malt, some hops, but not much else. The mouthfeel was light-bodied, almost watery, with medium carbonation. The taste was rather skunky with some malty hints, but not a very good beer.Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

The beer poured a shimmering blackish-brown with a brown head, about 0.5" thick. The aroma was dark roasted malts, figs. molasses, caramel, and chocolate. The mouthfeel was full-bodied, warm, and medium carbonation. The flavour was rich, malty, lots of dark fruit and cocoa. A nice warming beer.Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

The beer poured a very dark brown with a very thin, short-lived brown head. The aroma was roasted malt, some coffee, and some molasses. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied (weak for a stout) and mildly carbonated. The taste was bitter coffee, and watery. An alright beer, but unlikely to be tried again by me.Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Smokeless Joe’s (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – 125 John Street)
750ml bottle
10.50% ABV
Bottled On: 2006 Vintage
$51.95
The beer poured a translucent pale brown with a bubbly, effervescent head that was fed by a constant stream of effervescence in the Deus flute. The aroma was earthy and yeasty with some citrusy hints in the mix. The mouthfeel was very light, and highly carbonated. The flavour was very malty and yeasty. No hint of alcohol in the taste, but I felt it in the head. Being 11.5%, I was expecting a far sweeter taste but was pleasantly surprised. I have to admit, at $51.95 before taxes, I would have hoped for elixer of the Gods.Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

The beer poured a muddy brown with almost no head (although the bartender persisted that one he poured the previous night had a huge frothy head). The aroma was malt and a strong piney, citrusy scent. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour had a malt backbone with a very hoppy finish. An excellent beer.
