Yukon's boreal forest is teeming with aromatic wild plants. Aroma Borealis Herb Shop and Yukon Brewing Company are also teaming up to bring you a refreshing herbal beer that will transport your taste buds to the wild flavour of the Yukon. Aroma Borealis Herbal Cream Ale uses plants that grow wild in our pristine northern environment. This is a true cream ale - brewed as a lager, but fermented as an ale. It is common to use corn or rice as an adjunct in a cream ale, but our version is all malt - with a special Yukon herbal blend modifying these barley flavours. The unique combination of herbs makes this beer, we believe, the only one of its type. After you try some, you'll wonder why somebody didn't do this before!

This beer does not come in small bottles. I wish it did because it's not that good. The beer pours a golden colour with copper hues, slightly cloudy, with an off-white head. The aroma was sweet malt, bread, yeast, and piney hops. The flavour was atrocious. A little malt and yeast heavy with nothing to back them up.

Review is from early winter '07. My problem is that when I review I always do it on the entire bottle..in this case there's 1 litre of beer to do. Lets drink! The pour gave me a decent sparkly white cap with some ropy lacing. The beer itself was light gold/amber, kind of cloudy and produces an average ammount of carbonation. The aroma is what really makes this beer. Aromatic with what appears to be pine but a bit more medicinal - like a weak Jagermeister. A touch of fruit - close to apricots. Undestinguishable malts. There is also leather and something flowery. Gotta say that the aroma is very complex that really changes ALOT during the consumption of an entire litre. The taste is really medicinal but not over the top (like the Alaskan Winter Ale) . Dry yeast, tons and tons of spices, a healthy ammount of bready malts, possibly apricots and a bitterness that reminds me of some strong belgian dubbels. Medium bodied. Fairly smooth and tangy with an interesting bitterness that fades slowly. I'm not a fan of spiced ales but at least this one isn't overpowering and that is a very good thing for my enjoyment of the style considering I still have to refill my glass 3 more times. The weak 4.5% has gotten to my brain but that's probally from the 300 push-ups I did during the review. Good beer - get it before it's gone.

I litre flip top bottle, a summer companion to Midnight Sun Espresso Stout. From the label "Yukon's boreal forest is teeming with aromatic wild plants. Aroma Borealis Herb Shop and Yukon Brewing are also teaming up to bring you a refreshing herbal beer that will transport your taste buds to the wild flavour of the Yukon. Aroma Borealis Herbal Cream Ale uses plants that grow wild in our pristine northern environment." Pours a chill-hazed golden oranginsh color, with a short white head. Thick foam, but quickly disappears. Subtle smell, nothing overly strong, but along with malt there is some herbal aromas, kind of grassy and a bit sweet. The beer is well done, again nothing overpowering, but enough herbal flavors to make it unique. I couldn't specifically taste any one particular flavor, but it is a good blend of malt, sweet, spice, and hops. It is hebal and plant-like. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth. Again, from the label "This is a true cream ale - brewed as a lager, but fermented as an ale. It is common to use corn or rice as an adjunct, but our version is all malt - with a special Yukon herbal blend modifying these barley flavours. The unique combination of herbs makes this beer, we believe, the only one of its type. After you try some, you'll wonder why somebody didn't do this before." Tastey, I like this one. Really nothing to compare to. I hope Yukon continues experimenting.

$9.99 pretty steep price... but not overly expensive... pours a cloudy brownish looking color... it doesnt look that attractive looks like bog water!! the brew had a small white head that was gone in a second... just had a thought this looks like an unfiltered cider!! anyways... the aroma is of roasted malts (faint roasty smell), something that smells like apples. the mouthfeel is smooth and creamy, very refreshing... the taste is of malts, iced tea!?!?! and wheat!! a very unigue beer but surprisngly good tasting... horrid looking tho! ;)

Cloudy honey brown body and a tiny head that vanished before you could even blink, pretty crappy looking beer looks cheaply made. Very interesting aroma, smells very nice I just can’t put my finger on it what it is that I’m actually smelling, I think some sweet malts and floral notes and something else I just don’t know what it is, very good aroma. Not bad tasting very surprised, spicy yeast, wheat malts maybe some kind of floral herb flavor, so refreshing. This beer is amazingly good, clean and crisp to bad it only came in a one littler flip top bottle because I want more god damit. Highly recommend this beer, very unique.
