An authentic example of a Bavarian Hefeweizen. “Hefe” means cloudy or yeasty and “weizen” means wheat. This beer is made with mostly wheat and uses a true Hefeweizen yeast that gives it a fruity, banana aroma with just a hint of cloves. The tart finish makes this the perfect summer beer. Food pairings: Almost anything goes well with Hefeweizen but it especially shines when paired with salads and omelets. OG: 12.0 Plato FG: 2.3 Plato IBUs: 13 SRM: 3 5.0% abv

Tried it at Magic City Brewfest. A good example of how I like a hefeweizen to be. Fruity aroma, medium bodied, banana-ish sweet flavor with good carbonation. A good one for sure.

Another Yazoo from Lou, thanks man! This is one of the better American versions of the style I can think of, bold on cloves and banana. Had side by side with Kingerweizen and I have to give the nod to Yazoo here but keep at Cory!

Pours a slightly hazy solar yellow with a thin white head - not impressive, but I am prejudiced in favor of dark beers, so I’ll go easy since it’s a hefe. Strong aroma is wheaty and yeasty with a slightly sweet lemon overtone. Yummy flavor is wheaty and yeasty and has a firm citrus undertone. There is a slight soapy hint, but this comes and goes. Texture is thick, smooth and finely fizzy. A good summer beer.

American style Hefe's sure seem to be getting better over the past few years and Yazoo's is indicative of this trend. Wheat, orange, banana and clove in the aroma and flavor. Cloudy, vibrant yellow-orange body, huge rocky head and stringy lacing. Light, soft and extremely refreshing. Flavor and aroma are both great, but lack that assertiveness found in the better German examples. Overall a wonderful reflection of an often dumbed down style. Thanks BBQ Lou.

Thanks Mr Bar Ba Lou Que! .. . Pours a bright yeloow gold, then a murky yellow when roused with the yeast- medium headpool- lacing is average .. . has a refreshing tartness- not as clove/bannaned as some heifers .. . I could really see downing this poolside on a hot day, looking at bikini babes .. . i ain't paying no fiddy cent for no coke!!
Oh then you ain't getting no coke. Know what I'm talking about? -

Purchased in Nashville on my trip there. Pours a cloudy yellow-beige colour with a white foamy head, good retention and lots of lace. A whole bunch of tiny sediments are everywhere, floating around. Beautiful wheaty nose that is refreshing with notes of witbier yeast and cloves. Wet oily mouthfeel and medium-bodied. The taste is a nice blend of the wheat, bananas with hints of bubble gum in the aftertaste. A great first experience for Yazoo... must try more while I am here in Nashville.

Cretainly the best of the Yazoo brews I tried recently, but that's not saying much. A very pale gold, slightly cloudy and a frothy white head. Wheat malt is present in the nose with hints of banana and citrus. Very refreshing taste, not too harsh, not too weak. Just enough sweetness.

Quite a bit better on tap: Pours a hazy yellow with some lacing and a decent white head. Good carbonation. Aromas of bananas, Juicy Fruit gum and wheat and grass. Taste is good with ripe fruity-banana and bubble gum then a little lemon. Great hefe.

I enjoy a good heffe - and this just ain't it. It pales in comparrison to some of the better German brews. It had a thick, almost baked-crust flavor and a nasty after taste. I cannot imagine having two of these as it took all I could do to finish one.

A cloudy yellow appearance with a moderate head. The aroma consists of bananas, cloves, bubblegum, and some bread. The flavor is heavy on the banana flavors with a bubblegum and dough presence. The aftertaste is slightly sour. For a style I dont normally like, I must say this was a well crafted beer!
