Festbier, as the name implies, is brewed especially for celebratory occasions, e.g. the Würzburger Kiliani Volksfest / public fun fair /. However, as there is always plenty to celebrate, bottled Würzburger Hofbräu Festbier, the original wort content of which must be over 13%, is naturally available throughout the year.

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7

Had this one with my dad in the upper loft of Von Rothenburg Bier Stupe in Germantown, WI. Poured a nice golden color with a firm white head that had great retention and excellent lacing. The aroma was fresh with hints of malt, citrus, and fresh cut grass. The flavor had some malty sweetness with a heavy mouthfeel and lingering finish. Awesome lager. Even better in a 3 litre boot.

Poured a light golden color with a medium sized white head that left nice lacing. Aroma of yeast, malt, some lemon, and skunk. Malty sweet taste, slightly hoppy taste in the background.

The beer had a nice pale golden color. It would have been a pretty decent beer, but it was skunked. Had it been in good condition I would certainly expect it to rate @ 3.5 or higher. I'll try to review a fresh bottle, if I can find one.
