Van Dyke brown, clear, and foamy. Williamette hops impart an earthy aroma. Chocolate, coffee flavors. Dry mouthfeel and roasty finish. Seems like an old recipe--good, but not much going on.

For the flagship brew of the Williamsburg Brewery, I was disappointed both times I tried this porter. For a porter, it seemed to pour a little too thin and watery, with very little head or lacing. Aroma was heavy on the coffee and taste was a coffee-toffee mixture. This is a local brew and I really want to like it, but there are too many other porters out there that really shine.

Beer poured dark brown with a slight red tinge. Little head that dissipated by the second sip. There was a decent lacing on the glass. What can I say? It was very unremarkable. Slightly sweet (maybe a little too much so) and a tad bitter...I think that was from the roasted malt, not a lot of hop action in this one. A little thin for my Porter likings. No real reason to seek this one out. I got another bottle of this from my Williamsburg mixed 6-pack, so maybe I'll have more to say after I drink the second one.
