I keep telling people that the English Brown Ale style is one of my favourite styles, but sadly, North American brewers tend to go for an over-hopped undermalted version of the style. This however is one of the better attempts. A nice clear brown pour, the aroma is undoubtedly nuts and caramel. The flavour is slightly sweet with hints of both, but again, too much hops in the finish.

What to pair with turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie? Sometimes, it seems such searches end as epiphanies. This one took me back to a Nut Brown Ale. And this one turned out to be the perfect choice. Nice mahogany color. The off white (tanish hue) was moderate and frothy. Settled into a nice lacing. The aroma is sweet, but not overbearing. Well balanced in taste with notes of coffee, chocolate and light bitterness in the tasting. Good representation of nuts in the aftertaste. The body is creamy and full bodied.

Poured a very nice medium colored caramel brown with a good two finger head of off white lace and foam across the top. Light scent of toasted malt and nuts. Burnt toast, smoke, chocolate, vanilla, and caramel. Taste was a very mild malt and hop balance. Some hop dryness to balance the chocolate malt. Slightly nutty aftertaste.

Crystal clear, mahogany ale with a small, creamy, well-tanned head. Heavy butterscotch and toffee in the aroma. Vanilla and chocolate as well. Malt bliss! Very well-balanced and nutty with small, thin notes of chocolate, coffee and tangy hops in the flavor. A bit woodsy. Medium-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and lively carbonation.

Pretty lackluster. Pours a thin dark brown with a low head that dissipates rather quickly. Nutty, fruity, sweet flavors. Pretty plain, pretty watery, nothing special here.

This brown ale pours a deep brown color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is nutty, malty and sweet. A medium bodied brown ale. Malts are nutty, fruity and sweet. Hops are grapefruity and floral. Nice balance. Smooth taste. Seems a little thin. Crisp and dry finish. Nice drinkable brown ale. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Pours a clear brown with a thin white head. Aroma is malty with an aroma of caramel. Flavor is bland and unoriginal. It's not a bad beer, just pretty average. Watery aftertaste.

Bottle. Poured a clear, dark-brown color with a medium, almond head. Decent lacing (as opposed to previous reviews). Sweet nutty aroma, but weak. Nice malty flavor. Not very hoppy. Better than I thought it'd be from reading other reviews, but this is nothing special. Decent, but nothing to search for.

One of the finest examples of a nut brown ale I have tried. Pours a transparent dark brown, with a small dissatisfied head. Aroma of wood and sweet sugary items. Flavor is nicely rounded, without being pretentious. Overall a great beer!
