Yes that's right! The mother of all Pumpkin Ales is currently in transit to our wholesalers and should be out on shelves around mid-September. This 8.0% ABV pumpkin ale is heartier, spicier, and more caramelly and pumpkiny than its faint brethren! Perfect finisher on a cool autumn night, or match it up with a slice of pumpkin pie and fresh whipped cream. If you don't agree this is the mother of all pumpkin ales, then you just don't like mothers!

Rerate: Pours creamy, slightly orange head. Falls pretty fast. Dark rust cloudy body. Aroma of nutmeg, clove and all-spice. Chewy. Flavor is pretty much of pumpkin and spices. No hop character to speak of. Honestly, hasn’t changed my opinion much since the first review. Doesn’t remind me of an XMAS beer I made a LOOOONG time ago though I preferred mine better. :-) ------------------------------------------- 8/29/11: AR: 7 AP: 3 T: 6 P: 3 O: 14 (Trade from McGrupp612) one finger foamy head. Burnt orange body. Clear. Typical aroma of pumpkin pie spices. Not subtle at all. Somewhat thick mouthfeel. Heavy nutmeg and clove in the favor along with the pumpkin. A bitterness lingers in the aftertaste.

Oh no, not another imperial brew. Scary label. Smells like sweet waxy plums and alcohol, reminds me of a sweet alky mixed drink. Surprisingly not as alky as I expected with the name imperial on it. Has that typical pumpkin beer background. No alky content on the label but i bet it’s pretty high. Good carbonation that is welcomed. Odd veggie or spice palate that is not as sweet as the aroma. Finish is medium bitter medicinal malt bite mixed with old canned pumpkin. Aroma, look and carbonation save this from being a drain pour. After three samples, evidently pumpkin beers are not my thing.

On tap @ the OTH (Oldsmar Tap House). Pours deep clear copper with thin off white head. The aroma is spicy up front with a lining of pumpkin and some fruity esters. The taste is aggressive and bold with up front sugar sweet malts, prunes and dates followed by fresh out of the can pumpkin. As it progresses cinnamon and maybe nutmeg too grow in strength into the finish to help round out the experience. The dark fruitiness also holds on and then grows into the finish and after taste.

Bottle: poured a hazy copper amber color with huge head. Aroma is mixed spice, ginger, and pumpkin. Taste is mix of spices such as ginger and pumpkin, nice warming tongue.

Pours out a cloudy dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is very heavy but can't figure out the smell. The mouthfeel is very smooth and thick. The taste is very complex and it's because the abv is high. Best pumpkin beer I have ever had. Damn near like drinking a pie.

This is about an average pumpkin ale for me. For 8% it's on the lighter side, but still kind of sweet with the spice and all. Not overwhelming though which I am fine with. Maybe not as much flavor, but I prefer this style over something strong like Pumking. Clearish medium orange appearance. Ok to try, but not something I would seek again.

Aroma is quite strong, definite notes of pumpkin and cinnamon with some cloves. Pours a clear chestnut with a fluffy light tan head. Pumpkin forms the core of the satisfying and zingy flavor that has nice notes of cinnamon and cloves and an alcohol bite that will trick your treats. A whisper of sweetness wraps up the bold flavor. Texture is smooth and fairly thick, if not too fizzy. This ale rules!

I picked this beer up from the Wine Gourmet in Roanoke, VA along with Southern Tier Pumking and Cape Ann Fisherman's Pumpkin Stout. This beer was a tad hot but not as overdone on the spices and sweetness as STP. It came in second for me behind Fisherman's. STPK is WAY TOO SWEET!

one of the better pumpkin ales at our 10 beer tasting. no surprise there. a little darker and bigger in body and flavor than most. not subtle with the spices, but not overdone either. a fine example of what a good pumpkin ale should be.

12oz bottle received via trade w/ cking/kinger (thanks bro)
Comparing pumpkin beers this time of year is one of my favorite things to do. Like the leaves falling, watching horror movies and waking up to cool mornings, this beer makes me think of October. Aroma is straight-up pumpkin pie...cinnamon, nutmeg with a bite of alcohol. Like a pumpkin pie made with a wiskey. Body is a medium amber/copper color, clear with a nearly non-existent head. Flavor carries the aroma right along, with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves with just the right amount of sweetness. Alcohol is also present. Mouthfeel is very smooth, light-medium carbonation with a light sweet finish. Along with Pumking, this is one of my favorites. I wish it was available in Cali.
