Since that Weyer Old Heathen was so good I was expecting something positive from this. Pours very dark almost black but not really opaque. The bottle label is an interesting read, yes the speed of an electromagnetic wave is 186,000 miles per second or 300,000,000 meters per second. Try driving that fast on yer Harley. I don’t know why Saturn is not being dragged into the hole. When you pop the lid of this 12 oz brown bottle there is initially no smell. But when you pour it into the glass it develops a mild strongish roasty aroma that is difficult to describe. The first taste is that of a strong or Baltic porter, more burnt bitterness than I am used to. Decent carbonation, a medium effect that is welcome. Comes on almost like an imperial stout. Yuengling’s black & tan has many more manners than this. Finish is medium length lingering burnt malty bitterness that holds on the back of your throat for a while. Rates right down there with Yards General Washington Tavern Porter, Arcadia London Porter, Saranac Caramel Porter and JW Dundees Porter. Not as good as Bell’s porter and Otter Creek.
