I picked this beer up from the Barrel Chest in Roanoke, VA. In an attempt to knock off the last 5 styles, I grabbed this as a highly regarded representative of the weizenbock. I'm not a wheat guy but this is quite nice. I noted the color to be a golden straw - based on the style standard, I would've expected it to be a tad darker. All in all, a nice beer. Fruity, zesty, grassy. Lemon throughout.

Rated Oct. 2008. Pours gold with a slight haze and two inch bright white head. The aroma is pretty full with a solid wheat note, some ripe banana, citrus tartness, apple and a bit of grainy malts. The taste begins with wheat and quickly adding in a mild ripe note of banana. By midway apple and yeasty spice surface paving the way for mild lemon tartness. It ends with sweet apples and a resurgence of wheat. In the after taste a bit of vague hop bitterness seems to hang on for a while.

Nose: pea, bubble gum and a little hint of white pepper. Pours a hazed medium gold body, minimal Head has poor retention. Nice mouth tingly clean. Flavor is all banana at first... Fouls was slight clove flavors which are understated which I appreciate. The bubble gum is definitely there. Just a hint of pepper in the end and I'm going white pepper here. Like a mild hefe which I suppose is appropriate.

Pours out a dark yellow color with thick white head. I was expecting it to be dark in color like other bocks. The aroma s of sweet wheat and banana. The mouthfeel is pretty good and the Taste. Well it’s slightly sweet, wheat, clove, honey, pear & banana. I will buy this beer again.

I live in hope that someday a Canadian brewery can make a Weizenbock as good as Vitus. A hazy straw beer with plenty of white frothy head. Wheat, banana, cloves and bubblegum are the primary players in the aromatic side of things while the sweet and spicy malt backbone make up the flavour. A well made beer that hies the excess alcohol that comes with a bock.

Pours an insane amount of frothy white head and had a hazy orangey, deep golden appearance. Pretty thick dirty lacing. Aromas of yeast, malts and light spices. Flavours are mainly tropical and citrus fruits, some hints of bananas, yeasty notes as well as breads and mild spices. Average carbonation. Has pretty good retention. Full bodied mouthfeel. Goes down easy for the abv. Good stuff.

Pours like pineapple juice with a massive 4 finger head that takes it damned time. Not as dark as you would call a bock. Lots of bubbles coming from the bottom of the glass. Aroma is of yeast, wheat and spices. Taste is full of bananas and cloves with hints of metal and wheat. Finishes off pretty much non-existent. I like it but expected a little more. Very easy to drink.

Hazy golden orange color with medium carbonation that creates a thick white head with good retention. Not much lacing. I can tell this is a quality beer but not really into this style. Mildly spicy, malty flavor, hints or cloves, toasted malts, lemon, wheat, yeast, banana and honey. Weizenbock, Hefeweizen. I need more practice.

Wish List beer; bottle from Belmont Party Supply in Ohio. Very lightly hazed golden yellow pour with a tall bubbly white head, chunky lacing and nice carbonation. Hefeweizen on steroids! Pleasant and welcoming bananas, yeasts, lemons and spice in the nose and palate, wheaty, zesty, more over-ripe bananas, more yeasts... This beer is exquisite. GREAT beer from a fantastic historic brewery.

pours a very cloudy pale peach colored body with a huge, frothy white head and tons of carbonation bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. The aroma was citurs, dark dried fruits, wheat, some banana, apples, sweet malt. The taste has lots of sweet fruity flavors coming through, more sweet malt flavors than wheat. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, medium carbonation, full flavored.
