I haven't had it in some time, so tried it again with German food at a Portland restaurant. Good, but nothing special. I'm not that familiar with dark lagers, so I can't really say how it compares to others.

Pours a dark brown that you can almost see through, when not distracted by all the carbonation bubbles. Very short white head. Lots of malt with some finishing off hops. An odd fruitiness that I couldn't really put my finger on to contrast the dark woodiness.

pours a dark, translucent copper with nice off-white head and nice lacing. The aroma is a wonderful fresh grain, baked pretzels, and hops. The taste is a hardy grain, oats, light caramel malt, honey, and a mild hop finish. The mouthfeel is chewy with medium carbonation. This is beer has great drinkability.

Clear deep "tea" color with some light orange highlights. Slightly off white head that was not very remarkable. Not much retention either. Fair amount of roasted malt in the fragrance. A scent of toasted grain and roasted coffee bean. I can't really detect much else. There is something else, but not sure what it is. Maybe its a faint butter. Not unpleasant and balanced well. Flavor was of the toasted grain. The coffee taste was present, but not out front. Getting an almost walnut like character in the taste. Medium mouthfeel. Left a little to be desired as far as the coating of the throat and tongue. Did a fair job though. It was a bit dry and it went down comfortably. Smooth. This brew is not bad. I didn't find anything real complicated about it. Nice session brew. Would pair well with a cool evening. If this beer were available at a social event, I would drink it without fuss.

Dark brown beer with a slight head and decent lacing. Thick, heavy mouthfeel with a malt aftertaste. Decent, drinkable beer, but hard to have two in a row.

It pours a very-dark brown with thin light-tan head some lace. An aroma of roasted malts, coffee, some chocolate, light hops, citrus, some mint and light spices. The mouthfeel is smooth and rich. Flavors of roasted malts, coffee, light hops, citrus blend, chocolate, light mint, and choice spices. Delicious!

Dark brown pour with slight amount of red. Thin brown head and a minimal amount of lace. I was disappointed with the mouthfeel and flavor. It was little thin and had a black licorice aftertaste. Will skip this one in the future.

the flavor was above average the color was very very nice...does not blow you off your barstool but it is a nice pour with a favorable aroma and worth the try....by far better on tap.

A dark almost intimidating color with a milky white head. Not much carbonation to speak of. The flavor was that of coffee and caramel. Overall, a good beer with a nice color and aroma.

A decent sweet malty aroma and flavor, neither were too assertive, but it was still o.k. A cola colored body, had a small head with spotty lace. Overall it was a decent brew.

Pours a dark brown with perhaps a hint of red. Small, weak head, but excellent lacing. Flavor is this beer's strong point. Good malty flavor - aroma is average, but slightly malty.
