A true Enigma in a pint - a combination of multiple beer styles were used in developing the balance and complexity we were looking for. A three-sided balance is found between the earthy rye malt, the tart and fruity belgian yeast and the floral and citrus american hops all in a sessionable format. This beer gave us trouble because it was never good enough for us. Through all the permutations at every trial and tribulation we always felt it could be better. We always knew there was potential for MORE. In the end the secret ingredient was the age old adage that LESS is more. The flavours in this beer are big in nature, but it’s in the subtleties of a balanced beer that they really shine! So we made this beer into a “light beer” like no other. * Could be described as a Belgian American Red Rye Session IPA, or B.A.R.R.S.I. 2015 Description and Specs: A true Enigma in a pint - this Rye Session Ale doesn’t fall into any standard category. Instead, it stands in a style of it’s own. A "light" beer with big taste, one smell and you’ll be convinced! Brewer’s Notes This beer gave us trouble because it was never good enough for us. On tap at Lunenberg Pub, Ottawa. Pours a fair size frothy off-white head and has a hazy amber/coppery appearance. Thick lacing. Aromas are mostly malty, faint earthy hops. Flavours are roasty malts and notes of cherries and even hints of cranberries. Has somewhat of a tarty mouthfeel. This one’s my least favourite of the 3 available at this time from the brewery.

Hazy copper-amber colour with a beige bubbly head, average stay and good creamy foam lacing. Loads of red apples in the aromas with other fruity malts and notes of bread. Nice cereal malts with the apples and good hops. The mouthfeel is dry, but refreshing. Quite a nice red, easy-drinking ale with tons of fresh red apple notes.
