This Porter is made with 25% specialty malt for a deep and robust roasty malt character balanced by an assertive American hop profile to give a suprisingly refreshing dimension. This beer was a bit of an accident, but we don't want it to think we love it any less because of that. Normally you design a beer so that the malt balances the harshness of the hops or that the hops balance the sweetness of the malt, but this recipe turns conventional wisdom on its side. In this beer we use a heavy handed late addition of power-house hops to rounds-out the harsher notes of the dark roasted malts the hops really complete the beer in a way you wouldn`t really expect. 2015 Description: This Porter has an assertive American hop profile to round-out the roasted flavors of the chocolate malt. This is not quite a stout, or a Black IPA, so we call it an American Porter. Brewer’s Notes This beer was a bit of an accident, but we don’t want it to think we love it any less because of that.
