Pours oily sable with a thick and somewhat persistent tan head. Aroma gives up roast malt, resiny hops, smoky coffee, and a hint of molasses. Flavor yields roast coffee and malt, some smoky character, a little molasses, more than a hint of hops. Texture delivers firm, smooth body and fair fizz. Viven La Porter!

Pours a dark brown colour with a frothy beige head, great retention and creamy lacing. Beautiful mild smokiness with roasted malts, hints of dark fruits and hints of vanilla. The taste has the roasted malts, fruits and light smoke in the finish. Alcohol is well-hidden. Easy to drink with not too much smokiness.

Great flavour of roasted malt, smoke, dark fruits, coffee and a bit of milk chocolate. Aroma has roasted malt and smoke. Head dissipates to a small cap but retains well. Thin mouthfeel.

Pours a thick frothy brownish head and has a pitch black appearance. Thick dirty lacing. Aromas of dark roasted malts, quite smokey, coffee and earthy hops. Flavours are also quite smokey, with more roasted malt notes, some coffee and hints of dried fruit (raisins, plums). A little bit of sweetness as well. Good retention. Smooth, silky and creamy mouthfeel.

A black body full of brownish yeast flakes, with a frothy tan head that stays around and leaves a good amount of lacing. The aroma is very nice, it smells like smoked meat, chocolate, and some burnt malt. Taste is similar to the aroma, but it's not quite as smoky. It tastes like smoked malts/meat, bittersweet and milk chocolate, charred malt, and some coffee. There's also a smoky and burnt/ashy bitter finish. Mouthfeel is on the thin side of medium, it's smooth and slick with a fair amount of carbonation.

Dark brown with light brown lacing foam head. Aroma is smoked cold coffee. Taste is perfect, nice smokey bitter beer. Aftertaste is short. (Velp 201307)

A slow motion gusher. Big head, a touch too fizzy but otherwise a nice body. Tries so very hard to be elite...the smoke and roasted malt are done very very well. There's just both a slight vegetal aroma and flavor, and it's a touch too bitter, making it a little rough around the edges, if still quite enjoyable.
