A swirling dynamo of flavor, with a steady calm of satisfaction at its heart, that's Whirlwind Witbier. Offering a tamed tempest of flavors both spicy and sublime, this softly fermented ale greets the nose and tingles the tongue. Imported Belgian yeast charges Whirlwind with an energy all its own. It is a refreshing interpretation of the classic, Belgian 'white beer' style.

A little generous on the rating here, but the flavor is leaning towards a 7 bumping up the overall to barely 7. Could go either way with this though.....6-7 for each....tad above average beer and for the style. Just not a big fan of wheats and this one not really standing out. Wanted to get Victory's Summer Love again after trying it last year, but saw this along with a new review. Summer Love is better IMO. Whirlwind is cloudy medium-pale yellow. Tastes wheaty...the Hoegaarden kind though and not the hoppier American Wheat like I prefer. Glad I split this with my brother-in-law as I'll be going with other summer beers for the season.

Enjoying in Brooklyn. Pours a hazy golden colour with a small white cap. Nice aromas of grain, wittier yeast and spices. Medium-thick mouthfeel. Soapy taste that is good with all the notes found in the scent. A pretty refreshing witbier that is slightly above average.

12oz bottle, enjoy by 2/28/13. Pours a cloudy dark yellow with a smallish creamy white head that goes to a thin film that leaves some lacing.
The aroma is sweet lemon peel, pepper, bready malts and musty yeast.
The flavor is sweet bready malts, citrus, some cloves and spice with an earthy yeast finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, a pretty decent wit. A little much on the sweet and spicy side. -

pours a cloudy yellow. can't see through it but i had to almost throw it in the glass to get any head, which quickly went away. looks flat in the glass. aroma of banana, clove and citrusy yeast and fruit. flavor a cross between a hefe (banana/clove) and a wit (orange peel...is there coriander in here?), and ends up being a little thin and confused as none of the aspects stand out. the feel saves it. tingles on the tongue and last well after your sip. a bit of a letdown from a great brewery. wits have to be standouts to impress me. this one is not, but it ain't bad either. right on the line 3.3-3.4.

A foggy yellow colored ale. One of the smallest frothy white heads I’d seen. No hang time. No lacing. Big disappointment so far. Malt spice in the aroma. Light bodied. Moderate carbonation. The taste is spices like cinnamon and more so cloves. Would have liked more fruit or wheat in this one. Of the three wheat beers I tried tonight, by far the worse. Let’s see if I have a Southern Tier left.

Sampled on 12/11/08. This wit beer pours a medium orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is citrus, coriander, wheat and some yeast. A medium bodied wit. The malts are wheaty, cereal and fruity. The hops are spicy and floral. Lot of citrus, orange peel and coriander flavors in this wit beer. Lots of little bubbles in the carbonation. Nice balance. Lots of citrus flavors in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter with some citrus.

Pours a semi-transparent golden amber; there is a fair amount of cloudiness apparent. Aroma is rich, malty and wheaty, with a very strong lemon component. Flavor is well-rounded, malty with a decided citrus overtone. Texture is smooth and pleasing. Perfect for a warm afternoon or with a light dinner.

Picked up this sixer on my way to visit a friend, best by March, 2008. Sampled a few of these in one sitting, decent wit but it falls short in a couple aspects. Clear golden color, turned hazy by adding the yeast. No head is present, same story with the lacing. Subdued aroma of citrus and fruity spices, very tame yet inviting. Flat and thin on the palate, still crisp and refreshing which sure helped. Banana and orange fruit flavors with light, dry wheat and coriander. Sub-par witbier that contains the bare essentials, far from outstanding.

Beer pours hazy really pale yellow color with only smallish head and lacing. Nice blend of wheat and citrus and floral flavors. A nice easy drinking summer brew.

Sampled from bottle: Pours a cloudy, hazey golden colour with a full overflowing white head. Sweet with wheat and bananna on the nose. Taste is citrusy, sweet and silky. Very refreshing on a hot summer day.
