Light ruby color, lighter than I expected for a quad, with a quickly fading head. A little thin on the body for the style too, but the fruits and sweetness that I expected were there. The alcohol burn you might expect from a 12% beer was minimal. This was a fresh bottle, and I have another in the basement that has been aging for over 2 years. Look forward to trying the older one.

I usually am a big fan of Victory but not this time, this is a sweet syrupy mess and not at all what a Belgian should be. Looks and smells fairly normal but it's all honey, candi, and fruity sweet and cloying. Wouldn't go after this again.

750ml bottle from 2005 .. . dark gold with large cloud head .. . yeast, candi sugar, musk, more yeast, honey, and butt whippin time! .. . bubbly as all heck .. . no abv detected, time has done that .. . ok i guess .. . .
Um, excuse me? Isn't there anything here that doesn't have meat in it?
    Possibly the meatloaf.

Aroma is strong, fruity and yeasty, slightly sweet and slightly spicy, with a noticeable alcohol nip. It pours a clear coppery amber with a respectable, if not persistent, pale tan head. Malty, fruity flavor has undertones of caramel, yeast and cloves. Somewhat smooth texture is strongly fizzy and has a noticeable but not overly fierce alcohol bite. Enjoy!

didn;t quite seduce my soul, but it was a solid beer. thick and heavy, but also hid the abv pretty well (less warming than the 11% old horizontal). aroma sweet and yeasty...a touch funky (pony blanket) as it warmed. complex flavor of candied fruits, malt, yeast, spicy hops, dry. huge body, almost cloying. overall, a solid beer.

A bright amber colored ale. Big creamy off white head rises above. Dark fruits, spiciness and sweet caramel all combine in the nose. A medium bodied, nicely carbonated body. Finishes with a crisp dryness. The tasting is a beautiful dance of sweet caramel and fruit and a subtle bite of alcohol. Really nice ale I pired with chicken parmigiana.

    Bottled August 27, 2004, Sampled January 2005
Pours a brilliantly clear deep copper color, it is topped by a thin pale brown head that has trouble sticking around along through all of the alcohol. The aroma is sharp and spicy with notes of apples, rum, brandy, and alcohol. The aroma fades pretty quickly as my nose get used to the aromas. The taste is surprisingly light and clean for a beer of this strength. There is a definite fruity sweetness that reminds me of plums, raisins, and perhaps some red grapes. The fruitiness is the dominant characteristic though. This definitely tastes a bit like brandy, what with the general fruitiness and the alcohol in the finish. This has a really nice fruitiness to it, there is none of the spiciness that one usually associates with lots of the Belgian yeast strains. Instead this has a concentrated fruitiness to it.

Actually I am quite disappointed in this beer, it is not quite Belgian enough, not quite enough complexity. This is a nice tasting beer, it is just a bit simplistic, though I should give it some credit for being so smooth and drinkable despite the 12% alcohol. This is definitely not something that I can finish a full 750 of though, so be warned this should be shared with friends.

Big Beer with a very sweet smelly and thick and long lasting head. Full bodied and a bit too thick in my opinion. Big Malty flavor with some sugar and a tiny bit of spice. Great beer but this one is huge.

My expectation of a 12%abv beer is an overwhelming taste of alcohol. That wasn't the case here--this beer is fairly well balanced to slightly mask the high alcohol content. It pours an amber color with a thick white fluffy head and sweet aroma. The taste is sweet but not overwhelming and improves as the beer warms in the glass. Might try this again if in the mood for something sweet.

Pours out in hazy reddish amber with a rich white foam. Big fruity aroma of red berries, caramel, yeast. licorice and grass. Full flavour of yeast, berries, spices, cookies, bread and yellow plums. Long spicy aftertaste of yeast, apricots, berries and alcohol.
