Light ruby color, lighter than I expected for a quad, with a quickly fading head. A little thin on the body for the style too, but the fruits and sweetness that I expected were there. The alcohol burn you might expect from a 12% beer was minimal. This was a fresh bottle, and I have another in the basement that has been aging for over 2 years. Look forward to trying the older one.

This is a top notch gueuze. Pours murky golden. Has all of the deep funk, horsey/rotted hay/barnyard goodness that I expected. Not as puckering as other gueuzes that I have tried, and that's not a bad thing. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

The first bottle I had was the 2006 vintage, and since then I have tried the 1999 vintage. The '06 was dark gold, while the '99 poured a deep brown. Rich aromas of caramel and malts. Very still, almost no carbonation. The rich explosion made my mouth very happy. One of the best English style barleywines I have ever had. Looking forward to the other vintages.
