gre won me as we drank. the smoke is done well. up front, but not overbearing in the aroma or flavor. but it seems the dubbel that is the foundation of this beer is a bot lacking and thin for the abv. really like the smoke aspect, but the base beer just ok.

A touch awkward initially, but it eventually settled into a decent brew. Light and airy which is odd for the style, so the mouth feel is solid albeit a bit distracting. Brown body with a fizzy inch thick tan head and splotches of lacing. Light fruitiness with some black licorice, Belgian yeast nuances and a moderate smoked wood/campfire thing happening.

It pours a dark burnt-orange and cola color with a thick light-tan head and fairly copious lacing. A peppery aroma of roasted caramel malts, hops, smoke, light orange and citrus, cola, and light spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth, thick, and rich. Flavors of smoky roasted malts, hops, citrus, raisins and dates, light coffee, cola, and alcohol and spices. Excellent all-around..

750ml bottle from Specs, drank @ home, 6:28pm, 12/9/2011 .. . Pours a deep amber brown, strong foam head, light sticky lacing .. . smoke, sausage skin, sweet tobacco, christmas berries, dark fruit, and light yeast .. . a few sprinkles of genius with a chance of doom, also light touches of alcohol and spice .. . This is pretty nice stuff, the dubbel base is an interesting take on a smoked beer and this brew is definitely a change of pace .. . . Who am I clowning? I have no business being a clown! I'm leaving the clowning business to all the other clowns in the clowning business.

Aroma of smoke, peat and some sweet fruits. Body is a deep amber, with yeast floaters, and a nice cap that leaves some decent lace. Flavors of smoke, peat, the dubbel flavors dont come out too much, a bit of yeast and sweet caramel malts is all. I liked the smoke aspect because it was just about the right amount, if the dubbel had come out a bit more...

A brownish-amber colored beer. A big, frothy textured head rises above. The beige head has some hang time. Settles into a thick ringlet. The profile, lighter in the nose is smoked sweet malt. There's a sweeter fruitness in the profile, as well. Light bodied. Low carbonation

Pours a lovely clear mahogany with a very thick, if not persistent, light tan head. Malty aroma has smoky, peaty and caramel notes. Flavor fills the mouth with malt, fruit, and barbecue smoke with caramel and floral hints. There is also a whisper of sweetness and a touch of hoppy bitterness. Smooth texture has plenty of body and a good amount of fizz

750ml bottle. Pours a clear reddish amber with a big frothy off white head that retains fairly well and laces the glass.

The aroma is strong smoke - some meaty peat, with a little belgian yeast.

The flavor is a little sweet malt followed by a big spicy smokiness (liquid smoke). There's a little belgian yeast and a lot of bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with sharp carbonation.

Overall, strong smoke, but not quite what I had hoped for. The smoke and dubbel aspects don't quite blend well to me.
