Horace ‘Hop’ Wallop headed West a broken man. For it was a certain Miss LuLubelle Lager that had left him, thirsting for more. Drawn by wild tales of the riches of the gold mines, Hop pressed on westward. His last nickel spent on a prospecting pan, Hop's hunger and thirst got the best of him. Two fistfuls o' barley and three of some wild and wayward hops tossed in the pan with some clear water was to be his meal. But sleep overcame him and he woke to a bubbling, cacophonous concoction. Overjoyed with the beautiful ale that he had made, Hop realized the secret of the 'green gold' he had discovered in those fresh hops. Celebrated far and wide, Hop Wallop lives on in this vivid ale with his words,

Nice hoppy aroma and a golden appearance in the glass. I actually like the lightter look of this beer because it really disguises the flavor. Usually a big IPA will be copper or amber. This on looks like it could be a pilsner, though with less head developing. The mouthfeel is nice. Not too heavy, but could use just a touch mor carbonation. The flavor is great. Nice and hoppy -- definitely pine with a littel sweetness, but leaving a nice bitter finish. This is a beer that I will have again.

Just a dash of hops...An IPA fan could drink this everyday and be reasonably satisfied. It's not the most explosive one out there, but a great all around drinker and lives up to the name.

Had side by side with the hop devil. From a flavor standpoint this is more dynamic. The devil has good balance but is a little too mild. This is not a huge hop bomb, but its not hard to find and its a good jolt of hops if nothing else.

I preferred the HopDevil to the Hop Wallop. There wasn't as much balance or complexity in the Wallop. Ity wasn't even much of a hop bomb either. I'll take the HopDevil any day of the week over this one.

A very hoppy bite, reminiscent of a Stone IPA. Strong aroma leads to strong mouthfeel. There is a BEER here, folks. Wonderful bitter flavor that makes you want to hold it before swallowing. If it is a little bitter for you, try the Victory Hop Devil which has most of the attributes of the Wallop, but a more temperate flavor. Neither is a home run, but both are easy triples.

It pours a hazy golden with fairly thick white head and copious lace. An aroma of caramel malts, hops, grapefruit, pine, some bread and yeast, and mildly spicy. The mouthfeel is smooth and well-bodied. Flavors of caramel malts, hops, citrus and grapefruit, honey, bread/yeast, and spiciness. Very enjoyable and the alcohol is not over-powering.

Deep straw yellow pour with a medium head and sporadic lacing. Big citrus hops aroma with some lemongrass and slight maltiness. Taste is big bitter citrus hops slightly cut by the malts. Flavorful.

New England Run Sample #5- OK, this isn't a local "New England" brewer, but was close enough and was curious to try. Had their Hop Devil back home, which was good, so wanted to try something else from this brewer. Plus, I'm not sure If they have this there so choose this as the 6-pack to buy as soon as I got in town. A very good IPA. I don't know the difference really between an Imperial IPA, Double IPA, Extra IPA, etc....but this has the feeling of an Extra or heavy strong IPA that's not quite a double. Appearance is on the lighter side...medium to dark yellow, lighter orange for IPA standards. Taste, like the name, leans heavy on the hop side. One of the bitterest one's I've had for a non DIPA. This brewery is impressing me so far. I am now downgrading flavor from 9 to 8 b/c just a bit too bitter for my preference...but is a close call.

Wow!! A mega-blast of HOPS!! Cloudy copper/orange color, light head and lots of citrus notes...almost like a lemon was jammed into the bottle. The hops were not only the usual dry/bitter flavor but were also pungent and aggresive. The 8.5% ABV is hidden extremely well behind the hops. A brew made for true hop-heads. If you are not a true hop-head trying to hurt yourself with hop intensity (much like trying to see how far you can go with hot sauces)then don't even try this one...leave them at the store for me!!

Pours a dark gold with very little head. Based solely on appearance, this doesn't look like much. Aroma is piney and citrusy with some sweet (honey) notes. Thinner mouthfeel for a DIPA. Taste is bitter with pine, citrus, and sweet malt but not overpowering. Well balanced and very drinkable but the high alcohol catches up to you by the end.
