Truly a worldly beer. Baltic Thunder represents the Baltic Porter style admirably. Exhibiting the enticing, toffee roast of the British porter that originated the style in the 18th century, and the soothing, subtle fruit nuance of contemporary brews that flourish from Helsinki to Vilnius today, this dark lager honors the Baltic god of thunder. Created by an inspired collaboration of brewers and tempered with a touch of turmoil, Baltic Thunder rolls on to bring you enchanting light as the darkness fades.

I should have drank my Victory Baltic Thunder while watching PBS's Celtic Thunder. A thundering clash of the 'ltic's. Enough with the joke. The beer pours a very dark brown, almost black liquid into the tulip glass. Aroma is roasted malt, dark chocolate, and fruit. The flavour is more roasted malt, weak dark chocolate, and plums.

A bright mahogany colored ale. A moderate frothy brown head rises above. Not much hang time. And no lacing. The nose is richer than the appearance. I got notes of dark fruit, roasted coffee and bitter chocolate. And that is how it carries in the tasting. A medium bodied beer. Definitely smooth and low in carbonation. Advertised as high in ABV, but it doesn’t appear in the aroma or tasting. It’s a good porter. Not the best.

This is quite nice after dinner just the right amount of sweet. It has body with out being too heavy. Poured a nice deep ruby that had great clarity. The bottle I sampled had been cellared for 2 years. It would hold up well on its own or would go nicely with some almonds or a good Stilton.

pours almost stout-like. good body - a porter you can sink your teeth into, but deceptively smooth and drinkable for the high abv.aroma strong of roasted coffee, with a similar flavor, where some hop balance comes into play as well. solid accross the board. had bottled...weird, but it was lighter in color and body. very nice flavor and aroma still present.

This poured a black color with a beige head. The aroma contains some chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, but some chemical smell in there but it doesn’t distract too much from the beer. The flavor is rather sweet with some espresso, chocolate, and a hint of coffee. Overall a nice beer.

The pour was a dark dark black with good head. Aroma was chocolate, licorice and a nice hop bite in there. Flavor was chocolate roast, pine hops, where is the alcohol?. Good solid beer Mouthfeel was smooth.

Bottle: Poured a black color porter with an average size foamy head with average retention and some light lacing. Aroma is a mix of roasted malt with light bitter notes and medium black chocolate. Taste is also a nice enough mix between some roasted malt with notes of black chocolate. Body is about average with no apparent alcohol and some good carbonation. I was expecting a lot more character and must admit to having been slightly disappointed.

Aroma is rich and smoky, and has hints of coffee and molasses. Color is a barely translucent dark brown with a thick, tan, fairly persistent head. Flavor has quite a strong nip to it, like hard liquor. Other than that, it is somewhat typical of a good porter, like roast coffee with hints of molasses and unsweetened chocolate. Texture is smooth and tingly, very pleasant to swallow.

Wonderful, complex, robust and overwhelmingly satisfying. Aromas of figs, berries, chocolate/roasted malt and port wine permeate above a black body. Dark pour with amber accents topped off by a collapsing tan head that leaves spots of lacing. Drinkable, smoooooooth and hearty all the while maintaining a surprising creaminess within a medium bodied beer. Sharp aftertaste that accentuates the aroma and flavor. Upfront chocolate flavor with roasted malt. Sweet, dark cherries and mixed berries are mixed up with toffee and molasses. A subtle red wine quality and hidden nuttiness create an well rounded flavor profile. Good stuff.

A reddish, black medium to full bodied ale with a brown head that lingers. Not much lacing at all. A faint aroma of bitter chocolate. Once i drank it I tasted chocolate, coffee and bitterness from the hops. At times I thought I was drinking a chocolate shake.
