Timmermans Bourgogne des Flandres

Pours a dark hazy reddish brown with a small white head which sticks around for a few minutes before fleeting to the edges and leaves faint lacing on the glass. The aroma has a pleasant tart/sour aroma reminiscent of cherry, raspberry and apple. Some dark roasty malts hint at raisin, plum and fig. Get a background of oak as it warms. The taste is less sour than the aroma would lead you to believe. It has a bold malt characteristic that balances out most of the tartness. Still there is a strong fruit taste that reminds me of a lambic. The mouthfeel has the crisp mouthfeel you would expect and a fairly light body.

O: Has some complexity which distinguishes it from the rest of the Timmermans lineup of beers

I really liked the smell of this one, very different from other sours, it was a weedy type of sour like sticking your nose in a bag of hop plugs, that pungeant sour that knocks you back a little. Unfortunately the taste was only OK, not very complex, a bit too malty and the sour was very light, almost a thin beer.

Very light malt backing with a subtle fruitiness. Murky brown pour with a thin head and spotty lacing. Aroma was fairly faint, while the flavor opened up a touch more. A bit yeasty and nice overall, but a bit too simple with all things considered.

Very suprised by this beer. Thought it'd have a little bit more substance then what it gave me. Pours a clear bright red colour. Head is little to nothing. Nose is pleasant, but faint fruit. Raspberry, strawberry and so on. Taste is very mellow. Very little sourness, very little tartness. Just easy going and mellow.

It pours a very dark brown/mahogany with a thick light-tan head and fairly copious lacing. An aroma of roasted malts, light hops, oranges and sweet citrus, raisins, some bitterness and mild spices. The mouthfeel is smooth and sort of rich. Flavors of roasted malts, hops, light grapefruit and citrus fruits, tart apple, light bitterness, raisins, and spiciness. Very flavorful and a great deal!

on Tap at the Houston Flying Saucer .. . great nose, light cherry, cherry nail polish, and paid sex aromas .. . a bit watery, but it seems to fit this beer .. . a delightful drink .. . maybe its time for coffee, ..great now i suppose everybody wants some!

another "OK" sour, which is giving me a greater and greater respect for the likes of Rodenbach Grand Cru, Russian River, Lost Abbey, etc... like a pizza, a bad one is still good, and i liked this beer, but in style, it falls short. the sweet and sour are there, but not to the level of flavor, aroma, or complexity as the better ones. In the same price range, I'll buy a Duchesse or Monks Cafe...

Rubyish copper colour, mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is raisins, plum, burnt sugar and caramel malts. Flavour is burnt sugar, slightly metal and hops. Slightly watery, otherwise good brew. It was more supersweet than sour in my opinion.... only in the finish it had some weak sourness to it.

Bottle: Poured a dark red beer with a huge head with pretty good retention. Oak really hits you when you small this beer. Taste is very refreshing with a hint of sweet cheery which is attributable to the oak. Finish is a bit dry and watery which stop this beer from being as good as the Rodenbach. Still a nice example of the style.
