This Dark beer is unique among all others. Its smooth body, light caramel flavor and mahogany color are a result of the special combination of several malts. With its sweet aftertaste it is believed to be a delicacy among beers

Poured an amber color with a large, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of nuts, dark grains, and caramel malts. Taste of sweet caramel malts, nuts, toffee malts, and toasted dough. Certainly one of the more solid Mexican beers.

07.21.05 12oz bottle thanks to DaSilky1. Rootbeer brown under fleeting tan head. Aroma is dark wheat toast, some light coffee, dates and nuts. Very nice to sniff, for sure. Flavor is not as explosive and the nose, but still nice light coffee and hozelnut notes, very nutty all around, milk chocolate and toasted coconut. Creamy soft body with just enough eff to cleanse. Wow, even with the high average, I wasn’t expecting this. Thanks, Todd.

My second of two beers from this brewery -- this one to go with the Ponce's Resturant #12 Beef Burrito & Cheese Enchillada combo. And while this is a bit bigger in gravity, it actually came across to me as being much thinner and duller than it's lighter cousin.
Dull to look at -- no head retention, no lacing -- and a rather murky dark not black body. Adequate aroma (bare hints of some malt and some hops, no more). So far, not so impressive.
Ditto, I'm afraid to say, goes for the flavor and mouthfeel. All dumbed down and simplistic -- and never all that interesting. Went well enough with my food, but at no time did I feel like I should have spent a bit more time and effort examing this one....
Really a disappointment, after the rather eye-brow-raising Tijuana Guera. While that beer paid a pretty respectable homage to Dos Equis..., this Tijuana Morena tends to borrow a little too much from other watery and dull "dark" cervezas, IMO....
