Originally rated March 3, 2010. Purchased in Toronto at a LCBO. Part 2 of 3 dark brown beer that are tested. This one pours a clear brown colour, and looks quite close to the Black Oak Nut Brown Ale I just had. The only difference is that the lacing is slightly thinner on this one and the retention does not last as long. The nose is of dark fruits, yeast and mild dark malts. Watery carbonated mouthfeel with very light stickiness. The taste is pretty mild, with some roasted malts and a light sweetness in the finish. Not a bad product, but just lacking punchiness.

The beer poured a very dark brown with golden-brown edges and a frothy cream coloured cap. Lacing was light. The aroma was roasted malt, light wheat, caramel, and floral hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour on the sweet side with notes of caramel and molasses, and a spicy hop bite. -

This is a recent edition on tap at a local eatery. A brownish black in colour, with a thin tight head. Aroma was more roasted than sweet, but still malty. The flavour is quite malty as well.

Bottled. Deep amber colour, not much head. Aroma is fruits, some caramel and grass. Flavour is caramel malts, hops, grass and some slight yeastyness. Wellbalanced and refreshing.

Bottle courtesy of Mr_Kimchee: Poured a medium clear brown color beer with a small foamy off-white head with OK retention. Aroma of light roasted malt is a bit boring. Taste has a portion of banana malt, which is interesting, but it also hides some weird dry malt, which don’t match-up very well with the rest of the beer. Body is light and carbonation is about average. Not sure this is a beer I would seek again.

Sampled a pint on tap at Volo. Very typical in almost all regards. Mostly roast character which are present in both the nose and mouth. Flavour isnt complex nor anything particular, but still tasteful and refreshing. A good head which lasted throughout. Fairly well bodied without being too strong. Limited in its character but by any means a decent representation of the style. I enjoyed it.

Bottled...poured a dark cola color...1 finger sticky tan cap that goes to a clining lace. Moderste carbonation...small bubbles spiralip the glass sides. Toffe-nut aroma with a slight whisp of mustiness. Slick, medium bodied mouth feel... grainy/sweet malt delivery balances off with herbal hop bittering... bottled version has a bit too much prickley tongue feel from the carbonation, but if you give it a hard pour into a glass and let the 4 finger cap dissipate, you can approximate the draft version....some burnt treacle notes with light citrus hopping...finish is mild with a nice wet hop twang and cookie dough after taste. A good attempt at the munich dark styles...perhaps a bit too much carbonation and slightly thin of body in the bottled form but nice tasting and very drinkable...I'll buy more.
