Thomas Creek Dockside Pilsner

This beer poured a nice golden color and it has a white foamy head that disappeared quickly. What I have to say about this beer is that in a world of flavor bombs that is Craft Beer this is a nice toned down pilsner that has a nice flavor but is not over powering. You get a crisp finish and the taste favors the grain and malt side but this beer is an excellent session craft beer for those lazy days.

Aroma is crisp, malty, slightly fruity and inviting. It pours a clear straw yellow - not inspiring to me, but about average for a pilsner; head is thick, white, fluffy and fairly persistent. Flavor is typical of a pilsner, malty, slightly fruity and not complex. Texture is smooth and tingly, good if typical. Nice, but I guess a pilsner lover will appreciate it more.

A southern take on a German Pilsner; thanks to bluesandbarbq for this one. A good looking beer, clear yellow-gold with a foamy white head. Soft malt and grain aromas but little in the way of hops. Light-to-medium bodied with a crisp mouthfeel that ends too thin. Light, mildly sweet malt flavor but lacking in enough hop bitterness to balance it out. Nice and refreshing but missing the classic Pils character.

Pours a clear golden yellow with a bright white foamy head leaving ample lacing. Good carbonation. Aromas of slightly sweet malt and hops. Taste is slightly sweet on the malts with a nice crisp, clean hops finish. Nice Pils.

To be fair, I wasn't expecting much. South Carolina isn't really a haven of the craft beer scene. Beautiful area, not so much from the beer. On to the beer! The aroma was slightly sour and some grain. Appearance was the usual yellow but with a touch of haze to it. Mouthfeel was sort of rough and astringent. Flavors were acidic, lemon, very lactic and tart. If it were a fruit beer, it might be on to something but this was pretty gross. I didn't enjoy this beer at all. No thanks, never again (ok...well, maybe if it's free).

This pours a clear gold. There are no hops to be found, which is a bad sign for a pilsner. Something is a little off like there might be some diacetyl or oxidation. Usually, you can expect at least a decent tipple from Thomas Creek, but this one is not up to their normal standards.

Courtesy of Staley. This poured with a slight head over goldenrod fluid. Floral and grassy hop aroma with some butteriness. There's a good, but incomplete maltiness to this beer, and the style seems to demand a more pronounced hop presence and certainly a better bite.

The aroma is typical of this style and is grainy-like as well as malty with some sweetness with maybe some dried flowers present. The appearance is a hazy, pale yellow in color with a decent head that diminishes quickly and is white and bubbly and leaves uneven lacing. The mouthfeel is crisp and light-bodied with malty complexity with close to no balance with a crisp pallet and aftertaste. The flavor is grainy and malty with some dryness and is somewhat floral with decently crisp overtones in the finish. Overall, not bad but not good either. This is a typical pilsner which is refreshing and crisp and excellent for a hot day. Furthermore, I would go with this one over all other macro-brewed pilsners.
