Beer 1 of my Twelve Beers of Christmas. Dark mahogany brown pour, flat short creamy white head and cap, some lacing. Tart oaky fruits and funk in the nose and palate. Deep tart and sour linger. Limited sweet, mostly sour, wet woodsy oak stays with the tart linger. Very very good.

Pours an opaque, slightly reddish chocolate brown with a fairly thick, though effervescent, light tan head. Sour apple dominates the strong aroma. Flavor is very tart - you may exercise facial muscles you never knew you had! Underlying hints of caramel and oak support the bold tartness. Texture is smooth and firm, if not too fizzy. Pucker up, sweetie!

Sampled on tap at Rustico, Alexandria, VA. Aroma starts sour but turns to earthy malt as the beer warms. Tastes tart with rich malt undertones. Full bodied and very gently carbonated. Pleasant and drinkable.

This is a top tier American wild - hazed brown pour with lots of effervescent carbonation and a thin white head. Funky aromas of vinegar, cherries, and some barnyard funk. Mouth puckering sour with loads of citrus, cherry, and musty funkiness along with strong sweetness. It's almost like a fine wine, I sipped on this for an hour and enjoyed the hell out of it. Great brew.

(previously well-imbibed review) Candlelight review: Blood red. SOUR! Lots of currants, huckleberry. Golly. Quite sour. I prefer a milder sour, but think this would blend well. I compared it to Duchesse de Bourgogne. Truly not bad. The passionfruit shake of beer. Tough review, everything I know about beer (aka malt and hops) are absent. A fine, solid sour. Not comparable to red wine.

Well constructed Flanders Sour, and thoroughly enjoyable. Mottled ruby brown pour with a thin yet constant head and fairly thick lacing. Fruity, sweet, dry and mildly sour. Acidity and tartness cut through the woody and mildly roasted malts. Easy on the palate and very approachable for the style.

a fairly traditional flanders that has a bit more kick in the aroma department than the flavor. juuust a bit more simplistic, and less sour than expected, but damn tasty and drinkable. aroma of oak, tart cherries, leather. a tiny bit of sweetness and a smooth body. very nice beer, approachable and complex at the same time.

Pours a dirty ruby, decent foam .. . light wood, wet wood, strawberry pits, and light funk .. . muddled mouth but pretty good.. my scores and general enjoyment don't really seem to match up, but whatever .. . a good bruery product that seems to be riding the hype wave a bit high .. . uhh, this cokes gone bad!!

Sampled on 2/26/2010. This sour ale pours a dark ruby color from a 750ml bottle. Medium to large sized white foamy head, with good retention and nice lacing. The aroma is fruity and floral, woody and tart. A medium bodied sour ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, tart and woody. Lively carbonation. Very tart, and the residual sugar is pretty low. Nicely balanced by the wood and oak. Hints of leather and must. Nice beer, glad I have 4 more bottles. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly tart.
