Terrapin is going down on the farm. Maggie's farm, that is! Originally created for the farm workers along the France/Belgium border during the Middle Ages, farmhouse ales were typically brewed with whatever grains were available. For this version, Terrapin is using barley, wheat, oats and rye.

I haven't had the Peaotch yet, but imagine it would be like a stronger version of this. Very bubbly. Aroma isn't that great....especially right after the pour. Flavor is ok.. wheaty and peach. Some citrus too. Summer beer. Been there done that with this one, but would much rather prefer a DFH Aprihop.

Shared by a neighboring Georgian on Dark Lord Day 2011, I gave him a glass of Victor Helios so he popped open this saison in return. Maggie started off nice enough with a fruity, grainy aroma along with a pleasant visual aspect. Aside from the aroma and eye candy the beer soon became so-so. Flavor is not very flavorful, pale malt and a hint of citrus but fairly tame and flat. Nice effort, but a saison needs to be more, much much more.

Here we got a hazy golden orange colored beer. A small, foamy white head barely rises above. Settles fairly quickly leaving a scant trace of a lacing. Big wheaty-grain aroma rises to the nose. Some citrus. A light bodied beer with a far amount of carbonation. Smooth on the palate. The tasting is where the complexity lies. Lemon, , Sweet, spicy, yeast tones all wrapped in this one. Doesn’t carry the ‘WOW’ effect, but drinkable.
