The Terrapin "Dos Cocoas" gets its name from the deep history of chocolate and the two forms of Ecuadorian cocoa we use in this exceptional beer. Brewed with 100% cocoa powder, and aged on a bed of pure cocoa nibs, the chocolate flavor in this beer is so mouth watering it will even make Wonka jealous.

Tootsie Rolls and lightly bitter dark chocolate in the nose and flavor. Smooth palate but a little thin. The porter part is just ok, the chocolate great. If this were an imperial stout or more robust porter, this would be epic.

Comes out of the tap a deep sable, opaque and almost black, with a nice tan head. Aroma is not strong but appetizing, like a fine mocha with some malty hints. Flavor is strong, like quality roast coffee with a chocolaty undertone and nutty and caramel hints, as well as a touch of sweetness. Texture is very smooth and not at all watery.

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7
Aroma is very roasty with some burt malt coming through as well as some seered oak with some slight nuiances of Belgain flare to some extent and dark chocolate and cocoa. Appearance is a pitch black in color but a onyx when held to the light that is extremely thick with a huge head on top that is brown in color and remains throughout consumption not dissipating much at all. Mouthfeel is very full and robust with complexitis of roasted malt character as well as balance with a palate that is a tad dry but a bit chalky and coats well. Flavor is massive roasted malt with some cocoa and dark chocolate with some milky overtones with an aftertaste that is robust and raw and a finish that offers coffee and java and is very tasty.
