I've had this a couple times. Just got to sample it again during a tour. Tallgrass's philosophy is to make highly drinkable beer. This beer was very enjoyable. Not much head, average carbonation. Flavor was very calm. Not as much hops as I'd like but it was a pretty decent beverage nonetheless. I look forward to enjoying the other beers they will offer in the future. Made with Kansas ingredients!

16oz can. Pours a light amber brown with a smallish creamy off white head that goes to a thin film that leaves some lacing.
The aroma is sweet toffee and caramel malts with some chocolate and some grain.
The flavor is sweet chocolate and toffee with some grains and a slight acidic bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with some sharp carbonation.
Overall, a decent mild brown, but nothing special. -

It pours a dark copper with a thick light-tan head and copious lacing. An aroma of roasted malts, citrus, bread and yeast, and not much else. The mouthfeel is smooth although thin. Flavors of roasted caramel malts, hops, orange, bitters, tea leaves, and mild spices. Very good and flavorful!

Pours deep mahagony with a hint of more red than brown. Nutty toffee in the nose... two finger head... good lacing. Flavors match aroma, but slightly more pronounced. Well balanced and lively. Good ale.

Big can from pfoxyjohn's beer cooler via OktoberPfist 2010. Deep amber/light brown pour with a medium disappearing creamy head and a touch of lace. Sweet malts, caramel, a slight hint of roasted coffee beans, brown sugar in the aromas. Taste is at first slightly roasty sweet then a hint of coffee and a nice warm finish. Very nice brown/amber ale. Big thanks to John for this tall boy. (He filled my cooler before I left.)

This is good stuff. Amber pour, full body and a rich head. Grain and biscuit malt taste. Clean finish. Reminds me of Fat Tire but a bigger brew here. Yum! I'm rating this low so you don't go buy it before I can.

Snuck inside my sixer from the brothers from Kansas: Poured a clear brown colour with a small off white head. Taste was rather rich and nutty, which was partly expected. Semi sweet with a firm malt backbone. significant amount of carmel on the nose. but overall light in the mouth, otherwise nice beer!

Bottle from theisti. Pour was full brown ale color, weak initial head and lacing. The aroma was strong roasty chocolate notes, faint toffee. The flavor followed but with strong smokey, ashy, intense roast. Interstingly one of the more true toffee flavored beers I've ever come across, interesting underneath everything else. An odd combination, slightly astringent character. I think brown ales are falling out of favor with me, but this was a fun one to try, nonetheless. Thanks, Tim!
