Unchained: Honeymoon Saison Makes a way better wedding gift than a salad shooter. To celebrate his upcoming nuptials, Summit brewer Sam Doniach created Honeymoon Saison—Batch 07 in the Summit Unchained Series. It’s inspired by French saison styles which were traditional farmhouse ales brewed to quench workers on long, hot days. Sam’s creation has a refreshing citrus and floral character with hints of apple, pear and spicy, peppery notes. It’s brewed with a touch of Minnesota honey as a kettle addition and unfiltered for a smooth, clean finish. The Summit Unchained Series gives our brewers free rein to create any beer style they want. To reinvent obscure traditional brews. To choose the finest, rarest and (gulp) spendiest ingredients. The result? Small batches. Huge flavor.

Good belgium yeast flavor, floral bouquet and flavor, sweet, earthy and fruit all at once with a bold finish. Rustic flavor that is NOT soapy like some saisons can be. I think this would be a good beer for a garden party or for a wine party for those who do not wine. This would go great with roast pork with rosemary, pears and cheese, or swiss fondue.

Another good beer from the Unchained Series. All the common characteristics of a saison are there--yeast, touch of pepper, fruity sweetness and just a touch of earthy, grassy hops--making this a flavorful but thirst-quenching winner for warm days.

A cloudy yellow-orange colored beer with a big fluffy textured, white head rising robustly above. Great hang time. It settles eventually into a thick ringlet and light dusting of soapy film. Yeast, fruit and honey in the nose. Sweet, yeasty and grassy hops in the tasting. In a light, crisp body. Not bab, not bad at all!
