Pours dark brown, near black, with a thin, long lasting, light tan head. Aroma of molasses, walnuts, raisins, and toffee. Delicious caramel, molasses, and toasted walnuts start, some light coffee notes, toffee and more nutty flavors follow before finishing out with more molasses mixed with ample peppery bitterness and some subtle alcohol hints. Wonderfully smooth, big thick syrupy mouthfeel with low carbonation, and the alcohol is pretty damn well subdued. Great beer.

Another great find. Pours with a coffee/cocoa nose and that distinct baltic character. Deep dark brown with a nice cap of head that hung on shockingly well for a 9% brew. Rich mouthfeel and coating but not the least bit syrupy. Well attenuated and very malty in flavor, rich and roasty. This would pair phenomenally with vanilla bean cheescake or seared beef tenderloin, or even venison kebabs. A great brew, buy it, drink it, buy more, cellar it, then drink more.

RBESG 2006, Grand Tasting. Very dark reddish brown colour, nearly black, low tan head. Sweet bakery aroma, oaky and vinous notes. Flavour is malty sweet with a subdued roastiness, a bit too sweet for me to give it a definite top rating.

A hard pour would fill the atmosphere with that (distinct) Baltic chocolaty-tar smell. A deep, deep muddy brown in colour - like polluted sea water. Thin head - where any. I quickly deceided I liked this one. A rich, complex taste. 'Bold' is a most appropriate adjective. It does, however, lack some roastness to round out the finish. An otherwise lasting aftertaste. Mouthfeel excellent! Carbonation well under control. Flavour rolls off the tounge and setlles nicely into that lasting aftertaste. No hint of a 9%! Excellent Baltic Porter by my standards
