April 2013: 330 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 11%. Very dark brown to ruby colour, large beige head. Nicy spicy and intensely malty aroma, also notes of brown sugar, dark dried fruits and oak. Rich and warming mouthfeel. The flavour is sweet with distinct notes of spices, oak, malts and molasses, also dark dried fruits again. Pretty impressive stuff.

The beer pours a translucent mahogany colour with a generous light brown foamy head that lasts a long long time. The aroma is dark fruits, burnt sugar, Belgian yeast, and some roasted malt notes. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is cherry, burnt sugar, vanilla, and yeast. Very fruity for a Quad, and a bottle that should last all night and then some. -

How to open the bottle: 1) Carefully remove the metal cage, 2) Let the pressure dislodge the cork. (You may have to retrieve the cat, though.) Comes out a nice clear warm sepia with a thick light buff head. Inviting aroma tempts with brown sugar, apple, roast malt and subtle caramel notes. Sublime flavor fills the palate with malty, fruity, earthy, nutty and molasses notes plus hints of caramel. Smooth, lively texture leaves nutty, earthy and fruity notes on a very happy tongue.

Pours out a extremely dark brown with a massive lingering foamy head. The aroma is of alcohol and roasted barley malt. The mouthfeel has a bit of a sting from the 11.2 abv. The taste is a bittersweet flavor of malt and smoke.

Dark ruby brown with off-white foam head. Aroma is promising a warm tasty beer. Nice malt taste, some nutty tones, warm alcohol. A good quadruple. (Velp 201310)

Firm vs. Delicate.....an exceptional Belgian Quad. Dark amber brown body with a huge, lasting light tan head and ample lacing. Dark and mildly sour fruits with a hearty dose of yeast and granola. Smooth, sturdy and forgiving. Killer bottle cap and an awesome label, think I'll be going back to the store to stock up.

I've never been keen on giving perfect scores but this beer comes really close to it. I've heard about this beer in a magazine and it was called out as being 'beer of the month'. By a stupid coincidence I stumbled across it two days ago. The bar we were in had it on tap also!! It looks astonishing. Served in the original glass it gives a huge creamy foamy head. The beer itself is dark, almost ruby red. Really mysterious. When tasted, your tongue will explode by all the flavours. Red fruit, different types of grains and candy sugar to name a few. And they all mask the alcohol in it. Because this bad boy carries a stunnig 11.2% knockout blow. I had two that evening and it was great. I can defintely recommend you this beer.
