Not a bad stout, but not as good as I was hoping after what I had heard. This was an '02 vintage bottle. The pour was very unexciting, as very little head formed. There was plenty of carbonation, however, which suprised me. The aroma was very nice, definitely the best part of this brew. A mix of chocolate and a kick of coffee in the nose. The taste was a little thin for sure, and the coffee dominated the flavors. This reminded me most of Fuller's London Porter actually.

12.08.05 765ml bottle, dated 11/19/03. Black and slick as old motor oil below a lively and lasting canvas colored head. Aroma is dark, roasty, and mostly chocolatey. There is a certain note of oxidation that comes across as a fruity grain and a touch of cardboard. The flavor is dark and chocolatey, semi-bitter from the roast and maybe even the remnants of some grassy (now more cardboard) hops. A mineral character that comes in with the bitterness at the end lingers long on the palate, a slight earthy snap that reminds of fresh picked blueberries. How ’bout that? Anyway, this was a good find and a pleasing beer.

Zero head on this very light coffee chocolate tasting concoction. Big carbonated mouthfeel but strangely there’s no head. Hmmm.

This is an average stout with about 6% ABV. It is a little thin for its style but does come through with a nice coffee flavor and aroma.

Pours with a black body topped by a medium thick to thick tan head with some lacing. Slightly sweet and slightly roasty aroma with notes of coffee, chocolate and licorice. Slightly swet yet bitter roasty coffee malt flavor with notes of chocolate and a bitter sweet coffeeish finish. Medium to full bodied, slightly watery(?) and tingly.

Vintage date: 8/26/03... Opaque black, creamy tan head. Mild cocoa, light fruity aroma. Sweet chocolate, roasted malt taste. Slightly carbonated, but a nice creamy finish. Not an imperial stout by any means, but exactly what I was looking for tonight.

I bought this bottle-conditioned stout maybe half a year ago and figured I'd try it after reading the previous review. Poured a nice, dark head on an almost totally black beer, but some like came through. Very chocolatey and coffee flavored. Nice but not too special. Decent, rounded body but could have been a little thicker. Left a good coffee, bitter aftertaste.
